Navy getting 7.5 in East Rutherford was pretty much the freebie of the week.

Maybe if Killian rooted for his alma mater instead of some fairytale garbage school he has absolutely no connection with other than some made up religious psuedo-heritage garbage, he'd have a sniff's chance of a BCS bowl or perhaps *amazingly* a national title opportunity.

Keep sniffing old mens drawers, you sack of shit.

As it turned out. But ND had been playing better in the weeks before that game, Navy was a weaker opponent (at least on paper) than many of ND's opponents thus far, and Navy hadn't beaten ND on a neutral field since 1960 prior to today.

Personally, I've always thought that defending the option always was a matter of maintaining responsibilities. No way should our defense have been shithammered the way it was.

And while we generally moved the ball reasonably well on offense, we didn't get the points when it mattered most. There's no way that Navy should stuff us on 4th and goal from inside the 1 yard line, when we have at least a 30 pound per man advantage on that side of the line of scrimmage.

Well, sure. That game, and Maryland getting points, were the two that really jumped out at me, FWIW.

Improvement tends to happen when you go through a shit-team gauntlet.
Navy was a weaker opponent (at least on paper) than many of ND's opponents thus far
Weaker than Stanford and MSU, but on par with most everyone else. 7.5 was too much, is all.
and Navy hadn't beaten ND on a neutral field since 1960 prior to today.
And ND has been historically a mismatch for Navy up until recent years. Meaningless stat.

I've seen Navy a couple times this year. Dobbs is one tough motherfucker.

Rack this NDFan melt from another board:
I hate you, Brian Kelly. I hate your fucking lesbian golfer visor. I hate your fucking offense that looks like Oregon’s offense on quaaludes and holds the ball for 2.5 minutes a game. I hate your fucking Dance of the Backup Quarterbacks playcalling system. I hate your fucking Baaaaaahston accent as you blame the players and get high on the smell of your own fucking farts.

I hate you, Notre Dame football players. You’re made of glass, you’re fucking idiots, and you look like flabby turnstiles in those absurd shrink-wrap jerseys. You sit on the bench and cry because your opponents are actually, you know, hitting and trying to win a football game. You fold at the first sign of adversity, you drop balls a third grader would catch, and you spend most of the game chugging gatorade and feeling sorry for yourselves. I’m sure that, somehow, you’ll muster up enough strength to go out and drink 19 Keystone Lights in South Bend tonight, because you fucking deserve it. You’re all fucking losers. Put your fucking helmets back on and at least look like you want to be playing football.

I hate you, Notre Dame fans. You people fucking suck. I hate your pink jerseys, your 2.5 children named Hunter and Dakota and Mackenzie. I hate your fucking Bluetooths and your Blackberries that you dick around with instead of, you know, paying attention to the fucking football game. You want your hot chocolate hot, your seat cushion squishy, and your football stadium absolutely silent so the noise doesn’t hurt little Aiden’s ears. You’re the lamest fucking fanbase in the country, and I’m ashamed to be one of you.

I hate you, Notre Dame football. You’re fucked beyond repair, and the next time you do something impressive will be the first in my lifetime. You’re a bloated, creaking, corpse of a football program that slowly lurches along year after year, taking one step forward and two steps back. Fuck your classiness and your tradition and your “Welcome to Notre Dame Stadium!” and your violent yellow flowers and your assbag announcers who can’t identify the players or pronounce their names and your commercial breaks that last a galactic year and your retarded fucking schedules. All you do is provide schadenfreude for our enemies, and it fucking blows.

Fuck you all, I’m getting drunk.
A true melt down isn't complete without a "fuck you all" blast.

That is the classic meltdown of all meltdowns.

I once made an off season visit to Notre Dame Stadium just to see the place that had witnessed so much college football history....Knute Rockne, the Four Horsemen, etc....but I think that, today, it more likely reflects the USS Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor.....sunk and full of dead bodies.

Which is why I qualified my statement with, "to some extent". Michigan hasn't been as bad for as long, but they've still fallen from the elite teams.

I remember losing to Fredo all the time a few years back. This is even more frustrating. At least a couple of the kids on Fredo's roster were kids in whom ND would've taken an interest. But there's nobody on Navy's roster who would've gotten a look from ND as a scholarship football player.

And the NDFan melt about one step forward and two steps back was right on the money, certainly as far as that game was concerned. At least the two previous losses to Navy were winnable games (although the fact that I'm talking about "winnable games" and Navy in the same sentence is a clue to how far the program has fallen). We were fucked in this game from the moment Crist threw the pick late in the first half, if not sooner.

Crist wasn't himself, and we did have some injuries that affected the passing game (Floyd, Riddick and Rudolph all were out). But our second-string WR's and TE's still should be better than the Navy players trying to defend them. And we should be able to survive a sub-par game from our QB against Navy. Not to mention that Allen ran the ball somewhat effectively (about 5 yards per carry, IIRC), but 12 carries for him, against Navy, isn't enough unless we're going with tailback-by-committee. Under the circumstances, perhaps the strategy should have been to emphasize the run more and purposely shorten the game, with an eye toward winning a close one late.

This is what it boils down to for me: It was fucking Navy. ND outweighed both of their lines by 30 lbs a guy, yet Navy kicked ND's ass up and down the field all day long on both sides of the ball. Weis losing to Navy was frustrating, but it was bound to happen at some point. Every streak comes to an end. Even last year, ND's offense shot themselves in the foot everytime they got the ball. Parris fumbled without getting hit, Clausen fumbled at the one, and Clausen threw the ball right off the back of Floyd for an INT. This year, the offensive line was getting pushed around and Crist played like ass. Then, the defensive line and linebackers acted like they've never seen a cut block before, and let the fullback run for 200 yards.

Both lines are full of pussies. Their is a losing culture at ND and Kelly has a lot more work cut out for him than I originally thought.

Killian, I agree. Like I said earlier, no excuse whatsoever for being stuffed on 4th and goal from inside the 1 by Navy. Navy then took the ball 99 yards for a TD on its ensuing possession. Those two possessions set the tone for the entire game.

The '07 loss didn't really bother me. As you said, the streak was bound to come to an end at some point. And even then, Navy needed triple OT to beat the worst ND team in my lifetime. But it's just beyond frustrating now.

A few weeks back, somebody posted at ND Nation that since WWII, every unsuccessful coach at ND had at least one loss or < 5 point win vs. Navy, and no successful coach did. I'm seriously hoping Kelly will prove to be the exception to the rule, but I'm not terribly optimistic at this point.

I saw that stat, and I think that is more of a fluke than anything else. Like you, I hope he is the outlier.

Not only did Navy go 99 yards, they did it in 6 fucking plays! Not only that, but if you're going to QB sneak it, why not spread the field and give Crist a run/pass option? They had everyone near the ball and telegraphed what play they were going to run. Our OL is too soft for that.

Here's the problem with ND...it's their D-line. In a game vs. a team like Navy they should be moving the line of scrimmage back 2 yards every fucking play. You know they're running the ball. Stick 9 guys in the box and stuff the fucking run. It's not that GD hard. Push the LOS back and stuff the option before it can get going. Make them change direction. As far as the offense goes.....get rid of that pussy ass zone blocking bullshit. Go and attack people when you run the ball. If guys know they're supposed to hit a certain person then they aggressively go after that person, not run to an area and hope there's someone there to hit.

Also get rid of that gay ass spread offense crap. Go back to running the GD ball. Be physical and aggressive at the point of attack. Wear down the opposition and rip their spirit from them. ND hasn't physically worn down an opponent in 10+ years.

Excellent 5th grade comeback. Or are you just channeling early 90's Wayne's World? Should I respond with "ND's bitch says what?" No, I won't do that.

Are you ever going to have a football take? Let me back up for a moment. Are you ever going to have any kind of take? At least one worth reading? I'd wager your unemployment check that you won't. No one in here thinks your clever, smart, or funny.

And don't worry. I'm sure the leather belt you use to tie around your nuts just waiting for an ND or Michigan loss can be loosened very soon.

Yeah, cause giving a crowd the bird is the same thing as punching and then stomping on a guy with both feet because your team is getting kick fucked like an alter boy from his priest.

And in true Notre Pussy fashion, the guy backs up and hides behind his team when the navy player half his size gets back on to his feet. The Cowering Irish are pathetic but not as pathetic as their coach who wouldnt even address this. Fuck even Meyer suspended a player for half a game after playing dirty, Kelly probably gave this kid a blowie in the locker room for playing like a bitch.
Dont let your SC jealousy cloud your perception

Rey punched a door man at a frat party because the guy wouldnt let non frat members in and Rey was drunk after coming home from his dads funeral.

Was this guy drunk? it would certainly explain why they got buttfucked by the midshipmen but are you really going to argue that he had his decision making compromised by alcohol?
Had the domer just come home from his dads funeral? Not likely, the Navy player probably reminded him of the priest who had been bungholing him twice a week since he was 9 years old.

Had this been a USC player you would be on a soap box in the Rose Garden screaming that the school across the street is filled with hoods but when a domer is caught on camera in a game doing something worse than any USC player has been caught on tape doing, you want to call the Trojans the scum school. just admit that neuter lames players are as scummy as the players anywhere else and their coach is worse than even CUM because he has failed to address it and you will no longer look like the hypocritical fool you look like now.

Damn, this sucks.
SOUTH BEND — A 20-year old University of Notre Dame student died Wednesday in an accident that occurred on a practice football field when a film tower fell over, according to the university.

The university issued the following statement:

The accident happened at approximately 4:50 p.m. at the LaBar Practice Complex, located on the southeast side of campus. The student was filming Notre Dame football practice for the Department of Athletics from a hydraulic scissor lift when the incident occurred. The student was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where he later died.

What a tragic loss of young life. I wonder if they had the 50-60 mph wind gusts in South Bend that we've had for the past few days in Iowa? If so, that would not be a good time to be up in a lift. Thoughts and prayers go out to that 20 year olds family.
