Stanford plays some defense

The big showdown in the rain between Andrew Luck and Jake Locker wasn't much of a contest.

Luck was 19-26 for 192 yards a TD and one int on a hail mary at the end of the first half.
He also ran 5 times for 92 yards, with a 51 yard TD run on their first possession.

Locker was 7-14 for 64 yards and 2 int plus 3 sacks. 8 carries for 1 yard.

Stanford put up 278 rushing yards while winning 41-0.

A nice shutout win, but Arizona next week will be big.

While I agree that Stan plays some D...

don't cite what you did against Oedipuss as proof... it makes you look desperate.

Yep, about like USC's, I'd say.....considering that both teams played Oregon to nearly identical scores and that their head to head was a 2 point game.

And, while I'm in here....props to your Ducks, Dins.

Good to be a Ducksfan right now.

It has to be. They're on a roll and it doesn't look like there's anyone who can stop them....at least until the NC game, if then.....unless it's Arizona. Don't think that will happen because I don't think they can put enough points on the board to stay with the Ducks, but they're the best defense you're going to see the rest of the way.

Arizona is their toughest remaining opponent, at least on paper.

But you never know what will happen in the Civil War.

Zona plays some very nice defense, and it seems to be getting better as the year goes on.

In the Civil War -- Just seems like OS's defense is on the slow side this year. They're really going to have to plug up the front/middle to not have things go very badly for them.

But who cares? The Civil War isn't next saturday... those really horrible people from the north are coming to play. The archrivals are down right now, and they need to have their little noses rubbed in it, like the yappy little dawgs they are.

The Huskies average almost 400 yards total offense in their first 7 games. Stanford held them to 37 yards in the first half, and it was in the 80s before one final "long" drive in the fourth quarter put them up to 107. Washington may not be a powerhouse but they have a good qb and, after giving up huge yardage against teams like Wazzou and the Domers, the Stanford D needed to make a statement.

Then why don't they put him in the game?

The guy they do have starting sucks.

Touché. The second guy actually had them moving. For a while.

Playing some defense again this week, this time against a decent offense.

28-3 mid third quarter. Zona is something like 2-10 on third downs and has less than 100 passing yards.
