NCAA verdict on Michigan

Post by M Club »

looks like the ncaa regards michigan's self-imposed sanctions as punishment enough.
An end to the NCAA's investigation into the Michigan football program apparently is nearing.

According to the Associated Press, a person with knowledge of the situation said the NCAA's final decision regarding violations by the Michigan football program will be released Thursday. The source told the AP that U-M is "very happy" with the final outcome.

In addition, ESPN, attributing the information to a source, reported that coach Rich Rodriguez did not fail to promote an atmosphere of compliance. That charge was the one among five NCAA allegations that the university challenged.

The source told ESPN that the NCAA findings are "positive news for Michigan football."

In August, Michigan went before the NCAA Committee on Infractions during a hearing in Seattle and challenged the NCAA on those five allegations of major violations.

Michigan had already accepted responsibility for the other four major violations and self-imposed penalties. The NCAA's final decision Thursday, which will bring to a close an investigation that began in late August 2009, will reveal whether it believes Michigan warrants additional penalty.

The Michigan program already has self-imposed penalties, including two years probation. The program also has cut back practice and training time by 130 hours over the next two years, a penalty that began this summer. Michigan has cut its number of quality-control staff from five to three individuals and banned them from practices, games or coaching meetings for the rest of the year.
a bit of a phew. there was some worry that michigan could be classified as a repeat offender due to the timing of the fab five thing. other than that, hahahahahahahahaha, shmickles.

C'mon, Toejam! You're slacking!

Preach to us about the evils of the NCAA and their hatred for all things USC.

They should be prohibited from hiring Jim Harbaugh for at least 5 years.

Yeah, I think that would be about appropriate.

But dude - USC never did anything wrong!
They didn't. It was an agent. USC knew not of which buying of house that you speak.
