Choice: Either get used to it or give it up, because it's only going to be more "soft."

It's got to get a bit more pansied up before the Euro's (and other soccer-loving fruits) fully embrace it, and we know the NFL has it's sights set on becoming a world league down the road.

Three point stance gonzo?

Prolly coming pretty soon.

Except for the fact the NFL actually has playoffs, I'm really thinking CFB is a lot more like football is intended to be

The only real difference is that there are no "fines" in college football, only flags for helmet to helmet contact. It's a good rule, btw, as is any rule that attempts to protect players from catastrophic injuries. Looking for life threatening injuries? Watch NASCAR and root for pile ups. Anyone whining about the NFL finally deciding to enforce the rules that have always been on the books is nothing short of stupid, and I would begin with the defensive players who are bitching about the rules that are in place to protect them from themselves. Players in wheelchairs are not a good thing.

Sorry, Scott, but I can't find that "shoulder to stomach hit" in this video....because that's not what happened.

Okay, it was the sternum and/or above the sternum...not in the chest...and he lowered his head to target him. Your contention of "anything above the waist" being fined is still a gross exaggeration, and that hit deserved a flag and a fine, imo.

Spearing is leading with the top of the helmet and it doesn't have to be helmet to helmet to be a penalty...or to be fined. This is a rule that has gone unenforced for far too long and it protects both the defensive and offensive player.

Definitely led with the top of his helmet. Dude is lucky he didn't paralyze himself.

Look at the slow mo at 1:09 - the crown of Robinso's helmet is on Jackson's right shoulder pad. it's Robinson's shoulder and body weight impact that KO Jackson.

definetly not spearing
Spearing is leading with the top of the helmet to make a tackle.

Of course it was. That's why both players got concussions, idiot. I would say that he was trying to throw a shoulder in the chest but that's not what happened.

My bad, I thought you asked me to "define spearing". I read your post again and realize that's not what you said at all.

Yes, it quite clearly does hence the mutual concussions. A defensive back who hits a receiver in the chest with his shoulder will not get or deliver a concussion.

It is not my responsibility to remediate your stupidity.

You're wrong about that, too, dumbfuck.

I saw that. Looked clean to me. Seemed like the refs only threw the flag once they noticed Collie was frozen.

The "sudden stop" in this instance was caused by Jackson's facemask impacting the crown of Robinson's helmet. It's right there at the end of the clip, dumbfuck.

Also Jackson's head snapping forward doesn't explain Robinson's concussion. Essentially, you're just full of shit.

I haven't seen the hit yet but I just read an account that said the first hit by Mikell was with the shoulder and the second hit by Coleman was a helmet to helmet hit.

It wasn't helmet to helmet, nor was it called that way.

I just saw the hit on Collie and agree that it should not have been penalized. The second hit, by Coleman WAS clearly helmet to helmet but was unavoidable and unintentional, imo. That's totally different than a guy head hunting and leading with his helmet.

Collie wasn't defenseless and was even preparing to be hit. The helmet to helmet contact on the Collie play was not spearing.

I agree - but those were the calls: "Defenseless player"
The officials are overreacting to what's going on with the league right now and erring on the side of caution....at least on this play.

The league is going to have a hard time explaining this one.
