Wrigleyville is full of faggots anyway, so that purple fits right in with the 'hood.

Nice posters of green ivy on the outfield walls.

Uhh, that's padding so a guy on a deep post doesn't get killed. They just decided to give it a little ambiance.

that's pretty fucked up. and should become a factor "on the field". there has to be many many ways as an OC to use that as part of "illegal" WR picks in the EZ....run your guy between the wall and the screener. in jr high hoops the Yukon, OK jr. high gym had one of the walls about 6 inches OOB. there was a dotted line running the length of the floor for a temp "in bounds" for in bounds passing if the ball went OOB/hit the wall. what Yukon would do is run 1-3-1 zone and press you into the wall, using it as a "6th" defender. it was messed up. they weren't very good but hard to deal with at home because of the wall.

You call that padding?

They better hope a referee becomes "padding."

I like the sign on Wrigley "Chicago's Big-10 team". Hahahahahaha! The 11th most popular Big-10 team in that city is Northwestern. Nobody cares about them. If anybody actually cared about Northwestern, 2/3 of the sellout crowd last week wouldn't have been Iowa fans. One ENTIRE side of the field was wearing gold*. City of 9 million and they can't ever even come close to selling out a game unless the opposing team completely takes over the stadium, yet Northwestern is "Chicago's Big-10 team". I laughed. Hard. Really hard.

*it's actually yellow but we call it gold

That's been their marketing campaign for some time now. Goofy, sure, but can't blame them for investing a little advert effort.

Pretty much the same deal when I saw MSU play there this season, as well as 2008. Though the home field advantage aspect still seems to reflect in their play.

I hope they don't tear the field up so bad that it creates poor fielding conditions and keeps me from winning a Gold Glove Award next year.

Not anymore they won't. They're only using one endzone for the game. Dick Butkis is laughing at these pussies.

This thing went from a semi cool idea to a complete joke. And if I paid good money for a ticket in the end zone that's not being used, I'd be pissed.

you are a DB and you intercept a pass, where do you run? I punt inside the 10. does the other team start at the other end of the field inside the 10. stupid.

Just play two-hand touch. That's what Illinois has been doing the last two weeks, anyway.

It's not like this game could get any lower on the credibility scale.

At least the playing the game "between the hedges."

SEC fan would be proud.

I didn't think so either until I realized it's going to be on ESPNU, so few people will be able to watch this laughfest.

ESPNU is only slightly worse than FCS. Despite it's insanely bad "shooting the game with my cell phone" camera work, FCS does have Samantha Steele.

FCS has two cameras. The one that shows you the play, and the one that shows you the same first row of the student section in between plays.

a good FCS game will nearly always feature a sliding out of the end-zone catch by a WR that FCS simply doesn't have the camera work to review in an adequate way. nice to have crap TV coverage both determine and then undermine the play on the field.

Basically, they're adopting the "losers walk" rulebook. Other rules:

-2 completions is a first down
-1 blitz by the defense every 4 downs
-Defense has to count to 5 Mississippi before rushing

We counted to "5 Apple" back in the day.

We did too, but I thought it was a regional thing.

We always did Mississippi. 5 apple allowed the blitz too early.

we did Mississippi, too. Apple seems gay.

Now, also, in my day we all ran the option in Norman backyard football, too. didn't really need it. Thomas Lott and JC Watts were the heroes. Kenny King, David Overstreet, Little Joe, Billy....throwing it was cheating.

Sorry JON; I had to tweak it a bit but, that was just hangin' out there with "hit me" written all over it.

That's why we did "5 apple". What 13 year old kid could cover a receiver for "5 mississippi"!? Besides, we thought of football as glorified "smear the queer", so smashing the QB into the ground was good fun......unless you were the QB, of course.

We used Mississippi, and that was in California.
