LSU finally exposed as the posers they are. Ranking based solely on past rep is over (hopefully).

At least until the next preseason poll comes out.

yep, Rack the Razorbacks. That was a fun game to watch.

Now it won't surprise me a bit to see them and Mizzou in the Cotton Bowl again, 'cept this time it should and would be a helluva game.

Werd. There was still room for another unlikely comeback right up until that last fumble.

Wishful thinking on our part, Wags. It'll hafta be next year at the earliest. Cotton takes the Big XII #2. Our best go would be a #3 finish - and that would land us squarely in San Antonio. And while that would be a nice reward for our Texas Tigers - and a nice stage for our future recruits - even a Poke victory doesn't assure us of that. Despite their loss in Columbia, the XII would most-likely sit placidly by while the Alamo Bowl makes a run at OU and its higher BCS ranking... thereby sending us to Tempe (Insight).

Payback for all that Big Ten talk 'n junk last spring, I suppose....

or a run at ATM--who you beat by 3 scores at Kyle. that loss at Tech confuses me, Tigers.

4 score, actually. 37-9. The Aggies were our bitches that day.

that loss at Tech confuses me, Tigers.
ain't that the truth, since they got out to a 14-0 lead. Really no excuse for that loss, but when Tech changed QB's midway thru the 2nd qtr the whole game changed and Gabbert turtled. I'm still trying to figure out how that shit happened.

Taco Tech? Seriously?

Maybe they had a Nebraska hangover.

Oranges, Wags!

At least we're in the discussion.

Now if we could only get Carnahan to shut his cake-hole....

Never say never, of course, but I wouldn't count on it.

Of the four at-large BCS bids, there's a very good chance that two will go to automatic qualifiers.

TCU is in the clubhouse with an undefeated season, so no chance of them falling out of the Top 16. And Boise State lost, so there's no chance of Boise leapfrogging them either. So TCU is an automatic qualifier, take that one to the bank.

Stanford is a bit trickier, but with Boise State and LSU both losing over the weekend, there's a very good chance that Stanford moves up to #4 in this week's BCS poll, which puts them into automatic qualifier territory. And while there are a number of ranked teams below them in action next week, none of those teams (Nebraska, Oklahoma, Florida State, Virginia Tech or South Carolina) is close enough to Stanford to jump past them with a win. So I'm thinking that Stanford winds up as an automatic qualifier as well.

Which leaves two at-large bids. After Arkansas beat LSU, you have to like their chances, particularly if Auburn winds up in the BCS championship game, which would mean that the Sugar Bowl gets the #2 pick. And tOSU is tOSU, which gives them a very good chance of claiming the other at-large bid.

As I see it, Big XII bowl bids look like this:

Nebraska/Oklahoma winner to Fiesta Bowl.
Nebraska/Oklahoma loser to Cotton Bowl.
aTm to Alamo Bowl.
Okie State or Missouri to Holiday Bowl.
Okie State or Missouri to Insight Bowl.
Baylor to Texas Bowl.
Kansas State to Big Apple Pinstripe Bowl.
Texas Tech to Dallas Football Classic.

Btw, even though the Holiday Bowl picks first, the Insight Bowl might offer the more compelling matchup this year. You'll likely get Michigan as your opponent in the Insight Bowl. In the Holiday Bowl, you'll get Washington -- if they beat Washington State next week. Otherwise, the opponent in that game likely will come from the MAC.
