somebody help me here

..The Chargers open a 7 point favorite over the Chiefs after getting absolutely bitch slapped, exposed, steam rolled and otherwise buried by the Raiders, who racked up over 220 yds. on the ground vs. the so called #1 defense in the NFL. Kansas City rolls in with one of the better 1-2 punches on the ground, Philip Rivers has a 50% Antonio Gates gamely limping around and a bunch of waiver wire wonders on offense. What am I missing here? Does anyone really think the Chargers have a prayer vs. the Chiefs? Help an ole coot out over here...

Down to 6.5 already, but who knows which Charger team will show up?

The Blots better have figured out that a loss on Sunday eliminates them from any hope of the playoffs. Having said that, I fully expect the GOOD Blots to show up and come out of their corner swinging. For the Chiefs to get out of there with a "W", they will HAVE to keep it a low-scoring game, keep the ball away from the Blot offense as much as possible, and in no way shape or form turn the ball over.

I'd look to see
nine in the box all day come Sunday....
So much for the West. Cassel out 2-4 weeks. At least. Fuckmoose.

Appendectomy? Depends on how they did it. If they did it endoscopically, Cassel misses probably just one game. If they cut him open, he's out at least 4 weeks

They retrieved it thru his vagina, questionable for this week.

He's not starting on Sunday, Paul.
And even if he somehow does, you'll wish he had not.
Can't function.
Regardless of the surgical procedure, it's gotta heal some.
In other words, don't be such a dumb@ss.

More to a team than just the QB.
Brody Croyle gets his chance to shine. I just hope he don't get broke the first time he drops back to pass.
Do we even have a 3rd string QB? That guy best get up off the couch.
Get well soon, Matt.

Since you're apparently pretty new to NFL football, I'll help you...
SD is 4-2 at home. IKYABWAI is 2-4 on the road.
And later in the season, SD enjoys a slightly better HFA than most, since they have less of a "weather adjustment" to go through than most.
I hope this remedial lesson in "How Not To Be A Dumbass" helps.
OK, just busting your chops. Actually, looking at the computer rankings and predictors (which are generally reasonably OK at predicting opening spreads), SD - 6.5 seems pretty whack...
but let's explore this a little further. Oddsmakers don't give a fuck what they think the score will be, they want even action on both sides (which nets them a guaranteed 2.5% profit, with no risk). While the predictors have SD at about -1.5, you have to take into account the other factor -- who is going to be betting the most on the game. In this case, it's a buncha Chefs fans.
And, well, you've been on these boards quite a while now...
Obviously, KC Tard is about as good at betting NFL games as they are at forming coherent takes devoid of "No... YOU'RE gay!"
I mean, we've all known it for years, and now we have statistical evidence to reinforce the KC dumbfuckery.
Classic. So dumb, the bookies dock them 5 points, knowing full well they'll bite.

It's really early and I've had no coffee so forgive me if I'm missing something here, but if the Chefs should be getting 1.5 points but the bookies are giving them 6.5, how are they being docked? Are the Chef fans betting on the Chargers?

OK, so now I've had plenty of coffee, as well as a decent portion of beer. And it still seems to me that Dinsdale stepped heavily on his dick in this instance. And then turned tail and ran. So how did this remedial lesson in "How Not To Be A Dumbass" work out, anyway?

Seems you're right, Goobs.
If fat, dick-grabbin', "YOU'RE GAY" Chef fan is going to bet on the game regardless, as Dinsdale indicates, then the bookmaker would set the line at like SD -1.5, or maybe even go so far as to make KC the favorite - because he knows KC fan will bet anyway.

It's official- Matt Cassel didn't even make the trip with the team, so it's up to our man Brodie Croyle to get the job done.

But Croyle never had a decent team playing around him so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Not real surprising KC would lay an egg but jesus, try tackling some. Blots getting extra yards on most every play.

Unlike you, Trev, we haven't a beach out back to distract us. Besides, it's about 5 degrees outside right now.
We're hardcore, "watch-to-the-bitter-enders" here, Trev. Makes for a compelling week of shower-rod-and-meltdown-takes on the local sportstalk stations all week long....

Lap pool? Poseur. Any

Besides, the

Paul called it the "torch has been passed" in the first game in which the Chefs beat the Chargers on a few bad special teams debacles.
Paul needs to tell us exactly how long he watched todays game before he felt like punching his TV screen and waddled into the kitchen to eat his box of twinkies.

Not too hard to figure out, even for Suzy Homemaker here...no way was Brodie gonna be given the Code Red to try to win that game. That was up to Charles and Jones and the
Chiefs' O-line, and they failed. Once SD loaded up the box to stop them, it was over. I watched the whole game, just to see if ANYBODY on that team had any want-to or not, and there was a few guys who were playing hard. But not nearly enough. That's just the way it is sometimes.
