Thanks for stealing and crapping on my thread title. Properly: Hammer: Report To Slammer!! But, yeah, beers all around. 8)

So, how much of a three-year sentence does the greedy venal power-drunk former bug killer serve? Half? Not enough.

Texas is pretty strict and clear on such shadowed bribery schemes and his conviction is no big surprise. Turns out he'll have to serve the entire three years--and will then serve ten years probation on the other five-year guilty verdict on the straight laundering charge. But...he won't enter a cage for years due to the happily appealing fat attorneys, etc. Like Ribbentrop he was pathetically defiant and insane in his final statement to the court..."I kept the faith..."

Damn straight, KC, and it really reveals the Hammer as a truly sociopathic...or is he psychopathic?...

Well, he clearly knows he's a crook, that's plain, but like the Nazis or similar rapacious power mad cabals, he went down strapped to the mast, insisting he was right. So..?...I guess that makes him a psychopath, but that's only the clinical analysis. We are still paying big time for his splurging all-you-can-eat-buffet approach to bribery and coercion. The deregulated "why not"? banking industry multiple rapes of our economy were a direct result of his driven agenda of sheer kleptocracy. Boehner and Gingrich and the whole host of corporate whores are just another part of his meaning and legacy.

Bullshit!

He's depicted in the drama as an amoral high-voltage uber-weasel.

But there's another movie out, a documentary about the same characters and events. It's called Casino Jack and The United States Of Money. In this extensive and detailed companion piece we meet the real figures from the Kevin Spacey movie. There are slight differences. The real Abramoff, for example, obviously does not work out every day. He has a slob belly, etc. DeLay is surprisingly frank in his open embracing of the principle that deep pockets should buy power in congress. It's astonishing. And if you caught his act in the dock two days ago you'd have a real clue as to just how insane and demented this ex-bug catcher really is.

Stop star-fucking Abramoff, Felchco.

You're part of the disease in America that elevates single individuals as avatars for systemic failures.

An "avatar for systemic failures"? 8)

C'mon, are you actually trying to make a funny? It appears so, but what the hell are you talking about?

I don't think the Hammer would appreciate being referred to as an avatar for systemic failure. And he's not. He may well typify the standard simplistic bible-thumping money-crazed corporate whore of the GOP in the last decade or so, but an avatar? Do you really know what the word even means?

This might be an example of what you're trying to mutter..

"Okay, pilgrims, who's feeling exceptional today? Because today we rewrite history a little more..."

I'm saying the opposite of that, you Pacifica listening, macrobiotic yogurt eating, escaped mental patient.

You single one guy out saying, "Let's get this guy, and any individual guy like him and everything will be okay!"...

mvscal is right. Time to decorate lamp posts with the real traitors.

The Hammer gets singled out because he's also a total fame whore. He demands it. The fact that he was also one of the most powerful individuals in the country a few years back also singles him out. Is he a type whose removal would benefit society immensely? Good question. Why don't you consider it and, you know, admit it. And who's yer Bab's "traitors" again?
