So fucking what.

Vacating wins doesn't do shit. Will they have to give up the $17 million payout for attending the Sugar Bowl? I'll give it time, but I won't hold my breath. I just think that ANY penalty that has no direct effect as punishment going forward (with the exception of probation because that makes the repeat offender penalties possible) is horse shit. All schools cheat, but when you get caught, you should pay. The NCAA needs to shoulder the most blame here. They allowed cheaters to play in a game they should have sat for, all in the name of ratings and money. Now, they want to act like they are pissed and their only reaction is :

Who didn't see that coming? TP's gonna play because he promised me he'll be back next year...Really? Beacause honesty is what he's about, integrity and the letter of the law, that's our TP.

I didn't which is why I say the NCAA should shoulder the black eye for this one, not Ohio State. Yeah, OSU (Tressel especially) pussied out by not benching the players for the Sugar Bowl. Yeah, OSU knew the 5 games next year was horse shit and that TP would be gone. That's why they handed down a "harsh" penalty the following year. They knew TP was going to take the first paycheck he was offered because that's what he'd been doing for 3 years at OSU.

We'll wait 'n see what happens in the Spring, but the original link in this thread has about the same level of reliability as the source that said Tressel was stepping down after the bowl game.

There has been no word as yet as to wheather the NCAA will issue consequences extending into the 2011 season.
This seems like a very credible news source.

We don't have to wait for the spring. Deadline for declaring for the draft is the 14th of this month I believe which is why you are hearing the mumblings now since that is 3 days away. We should find out soon enough if this is simply blog bullshit or the real deal.

Just an FYI-- since it's now no longer newsworthy since it doesn't fit ESPN's agenda of roasting tOSU and sucking off the entire SEC-- but all the suspended players will in fact be returning to Ohio State next season to serve their punishment dished out by the NCAA.

Some will claim that this was based solely on NFL draft stock. But I'm pretty sure the Senator played the biggest part in getting these guys to sack up.

So I guess this means that honesty and integrity does mean something to some people these days, huh Steve and Indy and Sam? :D

Sacking up by returning for next season does say something but "honesty and integrity" already left the building with the initial violations.

I wasn't dumping on tOSU. I was indicting our current culture of dishonesty. It's everywhere.

After the NCAA said Joe McKnight could not play in USCs bowl game because he was driving his girlfriends SUV with her and their new born baby in it, it is a disgusting show of bias that they allowed the Ohio State players to play in the Sugar Bowl because it was a "unique opportunity" for them.

You do know that it was USC, not the NCAA, that held McKnight out of the Emerald Bowl, right?

You're a fucking idiot.

The NCAA banned him from practice and did not clear him to play until the day before the bowl game. How much practice were the buckeye players banned from and how many days notice were they given before the game that they could play?

Before we get into a long debate over this, how often are you going to change your stance and the facts you present?
