Stanford promoted OC David Shaw to replace Jim Harbaugh as HC.
Seems like a nice hire to me. They were able to pretty much avoid the high profile HC market and promote a quality candidate from within. Shaw is a "Stanford guy" (four years at WR in the early 90s under Bill Walsh) who followed Harbaugh back to Stanford from USD. With Shaw as OC they have broken the school scoring record in each of the past 2 seasons. He was also running backs coach this past season, when Stanford was extremely successful running the ball.
Not a high profile candidate, but I think a potentially good fit. He could be an epic failure given the high expectations entering next season, or he could be the next Jim Harbaugh. It will definitely be interesting.
