KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Fauna & Flora International has given us permission to publish a photo its researchers took of Rhinopithecus strykeri, the newly discovered species of monkey that was named after Kalamazoo philanthropist Jon Stryker.
We reported a story yesterday about how the the monkey was discovered in Northern Myanmar by primatologists working on a project funded by Stryker's Arcus Foundation.
One of the foundation's missions is to support the conservation and protection of Great Apes.
In Northern Myanmar, the monkey is known as the "monkey with an upturned face," according to officials at Fauna & Flora International.
