Yeah, I know. Usually I just toss them in the trash and forget about them. Today I got a summons from the local US District Court.

Anyone ever sat on a Federal jury before? I'm thinking this might possibly be interesting...maybe. I might even be able to make some liberal fags cry or fry a total scumbag. I'm drunk with power already.

hmmm.

I've only had my town and SD municipal in the past. I currently just postponed an SD municipal until May. I hope i get picked for a case. I've never done jury duty because I always got out due to child care responsibilities. Do it, mvscal.

By the way, I have never tossed them aside or into the trash. I always respond. I would never live down the guilty feelings if I did.

I would think you'd be adult enough to not let your emotions interfere with your civil duty to serve on a jury.

I served on a Federal District jury about 12 years ago. It was a week long trial where I had to stay in a hotel and was ordered not to watch the evening news, get on the internet, or read a newspaper. That shit lasted....1 hour after we adjourned on the first day. Matter of fact.....I think I recall posting on one of these former boards.

I remember damn hear hanging the jury because I thought the bitch's lawsuit against the state of Nebraska was frivolous. We deliberated for 2 days...primary reason being me thinking the bitch was trying to cash in. I finally caved after the other jurors dropped the damages 75% from the original agreement sans my opinion.

I no longer have to serve as a juror on any level thanks to my profession of the last 8 years. Rack that.

I got called to sit on a federal jury once. I was able to get myself booted off the jury in the first round of voir dire when the plaintiff's attorney asked me if I would have trouble awarding damages to the plaintiff because of his status as a convicted felon. I replied that the plantiff's status as a convicted felon didn't preclude me from awarding damages but that the defendant's status as fully indemnified employees (prison guards) of the State of New York did give me pause as any damages I awarded would be coming out of my tax dollars. I also suggested that there would be no place in the State of New York where the plaintiff could reasonably expect to receive a fair trial and that the proceedings should be moved out of state.

Well apparently that was a problem for the plaintiff's attorney. They adjourned for lunch after myself and a few others were excused. As I was walking back to my car, I bumped into the lawyer from the attorney general's office who congratulated me for the most original way out of jury duty that he had ever seen. 8)

During Voir Dire hide your racial prejudice and make sure they know you have part-beaner in your blood so they think you'll be sympathetic etc... Then during deliberations, bring out the Mvscal we all know and let us know who you fucked over so we can all get a good laugh.

This is my State, not Federal experience:

The one time I was being interviewed to go on a long court case I've watched people cry in front of everyone trying to get out of jury duty. When I was questioned as the last potential juror, I told the judge the accused is guilty until proven innocent. When asked why... I told him I'm a former US Naval Officer and have found that NJP and the UCMJ are just formalities to hang the guilty bastards.

He started laughing and let me go. The defense attorney just looked at me. I've never been called back. Also for you idiots that haven't figured it out, reschedule for State duty during Holiday Season when there are no court cases due to the loathsome attorneys putting off cases until mid-January.

I'm scheduled for jury duty in Arlington during the week of 2/7. First time I've been summoned since moving to the DC area. Only had to report once in Ventura and was excused during voir dire. Don't expect to be empanelled this time either.
