Okay, how did your team do on signing day? Iowa is in the running for a few hot prospects but we'll see what surprises come along today.

Went to a few of my go-to OSU homer boards to see what's been going on this morning, got this screen:

Same is true for the Iowa board, so I'm watching espn3.

i saw new Colorado HC Jon Embree and Eric Bienemy at the CU-ISU game last night. sub-zero temps, ISU in town, and a losing streak had the Coors Events Center at about 4,000 actual bodies I'd guess. Coaches and I were stretching out in mostly empty section 7 with but a few rows between us. They demolished a couple hot dogs with way too much ketchup and heroic amounts of relish. EB spent most of the time working two phones, taking pics of the court, sending them out and saying the phrase "yeah, baby....oh yeah, baby" thousands of times. So: either EB is working as a phone sex professional, CU might be having a couple nice surprises to put some ooofmph in this transition class, or that's just part of EB's schtick.

it was kind of interesting to watch up close. me, i took advantage of the fan appreciation 5$ GA ticket and 1$ Papa Romano's Pizza Night (tm).

see that Oklahoma stole a ND db commit. 3 star guy, but eat it Irish. maybe he saw pics of Norman on the internet. heh.

ND had a great defensive haul. Losing that DB to OU sucks, but they still did really, really well.

We signed a good deal of OL and DL, which we needed.

Biggest get of the day was Elkino Watson, who looked to be heading to Miami.

USC is sitting at 30 right now but may lose Thomas to the Ducks.
They lost a few kids today, grabbed a few that I was pleasantly surprised with, hope Deanthony keeps to his word but Phils been writing some big checks.
Lane and the staff addressed the needs the team had, 7 OL, 7 DL, 4 LB, 2 S, 3 RB, 2 QB
USC Can take 33, maybe they can get a few more and hopefully keep Thomas home

^ Yup, quite a few Buckeye homers are pissed today about USC snagging Aundrey Walker out of Cleveland Glenville HS-- a well-known pipeline for tOSU (where Troy Smith, Ted Ginn & Donte Whitner played prep ball, among others).

If it makes you feel any better, 3* OT Torian White who chose USC at his press conference had to face his pissed off mommy afterwards and she wouldnt sign his letter unless it was a letter to UCLA so SC is down to 29 commits and just 6 OL

When Walkers fax arrived at Herritage Hall, the coaches walked outside and it was 72 degrees, it will be in the 80s this weekend

The SEC made a splash, as usual, with nine teams in the top 25, six in the top 13 and two -- Alabama and Auburn -- in the top three.
Yet another dominant performance by the SEC.

That was the only bummer this year. Of course, the kid had flipped from Wisconsin to ND, then flipped from ND to OU. Oh well, that happens.

I'll give Kelly and his staff high marks for perseverance. The previous three administrations, under these circumstances, wouldn't have landed Tuitt or Lynch, and probably wouldn't have landed Williams. This staff got all three.

My one criticism is that this class probably has too many DL's, just as last year's class had too many QB's. In both cases, however, the staff was responding to a critical lack of talent at those positions.

I think it depends on how you look at it. Various services list Rabassa, Williams, Carrico, Springman, Councell, Hounshell and Nikilas as DE’s. Rabassa, Williams and Councell will be playing OLB. Nikilas can play TE, OT or DE. Carrico and Springman will be moved to OL soon, and Hounshell can play either DE or OL.

I’m bummed they missed out on an elite TB, but I think that position will be addressed in the next recruiting cycle.

I liked Herbstreit's comments on ESPNU at the end of the day and letting it be known that he's not a fan of all the hoopla surrounding these high school kids, the hats or bulldogs, and 18 year olds acting like they've already won the Heisman. These guys have done absolutely nothing in college football at this point and some of those guys won't amount to shit in college. In effect, they're no different than the KC Royals six top 50 prospects in the minors. The proof's in the pudding and you can strut your stuff after you've actually done something. Until then, you're just a fucking freshman next fall trying to impress the coaches for playing time.

"Nick Who?" Yeah, he's the guy who'd eat you for fucking lunch today, tomorrow, and next year. STFU until you do something on the field.

It looks like Iowa is back in the mix for Cyrus Kouandjio. Iowa had a good recruiting year without him, but it would be a big shot in the arm to land him. Doubtful it will happen, as he will likely end up with Auburn or 'Bama, but he'd be a perfect fit at Iowa in a couple of years....especially if Riley Reiff goes pro after next season. I don't know if there's been any kind of timeline placed on his decision but hopefully he'll make the right one for him.

The kid is going to Auburn. He's an attention whore and the head choach at DeMatha was shocked he pulled that stunt. Completely different mentality than his brother, Arie.

Maybe, but he didn't seem like an attention whore yesterday on TV. In fact, he looked rather uncomfortable with all of the attention. Iowa landed a couple of his high school teammates yesterday and I know he was very impressed with Iowa when he made his visit. We'll see what happens. Auburn may have to dig deep into their treasure chest to land him.

And they're still be on probation and staring down the barrel of reduced scholarships over the next three years.

And at the max they will have a 1 year bowl ban and will still be able to sign 18 players next year since they only signed 30 of the 33 they could have signed this year.

It would've been nice to land an elite TB, no doubt, but I'm not too worried about that. There certainly is enough depth at that position right now with both Wood and Gray returning. I'm hoping the staff will use them as a sort of "thunder and lightning" combo the way I always hoped that Weis' staff would use Allen and Hughes, but never did.

RB is probably the easiest position for a true freshman to step in and make an immediate contribution, so I don't think it's necessarily critical to bring one in in every class.

As usual Wisky pulls a class that ranks somewhere between 25 and 40 and maximizes their talent into a top 15 finish.

The best (and most believable) rumor here is that Little Nicky threatened to pull his brother's scholarship if he didn't sign.

Either that or hand out yet another one of his infamous "medical" redshirts.

That's TWO position players this year that publicly committed to Auburn, so pending recruits would look elsewhere, but quietly signed with the tahd. Hmmmmm...

My cousin asked me to be in his wedding in 1998, I agreed not checking the date, I mean it was my cousin, I couldnt say no.
Turned out it was the date of the USC v neuter lame football game. there we are, Ritz in Laguna, day of the wedding and it started raining, it rained harder than I ever recall it raining in Laguna in my life time, at the reception dinner when he said he couldnt believe it was raining the way it was, I told him it was payback for scheduling a wedding on the day of USC vs the hated catlicks, as soon as i could I snuck off to the hotels bar to watch USC beat the domers

Stop acting holier than thou. From an article I read a while back, the only teams in the SEC that don't participate in over-signing are Georgia, Vanderbilt, Florida, and UT. The rest of that league can go fuck themselves.

Nothing about oversigning in my post, dumbfukk.

It's about influencing recruits, and Saban is the puppetmaster.
