As I've said a number of times here, high seas piracy is so fukking perventable, it's not funny. We simply establish commercial sea lanes. You wander into one, we blow you the fukk up. Where these lanes approach land as in straits or near ports, we have aggressive patrolling. On top of this, you 4 ma dueces (fore and aft, port and starboard) and train the crews to use them.

Unfortunately all these measures require politicians with stones to carry them out.
