Herbstreit, despite being a Buckeye alum, is by far the best college football analyst on the tube and one of the few ESPN opinions that I listen to and respect. He's objective and well informed....and does his job better than anyone else out there. I haven't seen any of his comments concerning Tressel's current problem, but apparently he's been critical....which he should be.

Herbstreit's a douche.

Herbstreit is an excellent analyst. It's a shame he has to be paired with Brent Mushmouth.

Yeah, Herbstreit knows his shit and is pretty much nails when compared to any other analyst. He makes College Gameday watchable and almost makes a Musberger broadcast bearable....almost.

If Screwball is dissing him, it's a good bet he's pretty decent.

That's a good point and, since we're on the subject, just who does S_M think is a good sports journalist and/or analyst? I know he doesn't like Rick Reilly either, so is this an objective opinion from a fellow journalist or penis envy of guys who have made it in the business?

Locally in DC, I think Mark Zuckerman (CSN Washington), Thom Loverro (formerly of the Baltimore Sun) and Jason Reid (Washington Post) are pretty good. I also like Dan Steinberg (DC Sports Bog). Nationally, I like Allan Muir (CNNSI), Jim Kelley (RIP).
