The thing that brought most of us together...

was Jim Rome back in the days of the Smack Board or whatever the hell it was called.

Well he was a guest of our team a few days ago and after morning skate we presented him with a jersey with his name on the back. Couldn't get him on skates but he did hang around the locker room and chat with the guys. Funny moment; one of our assistant coaches was acting like he wanted a piece of Rome for comments Rome made back when he played in LA for the Kings. Apparently Rome said the guy would never make it in the league etc. Well 2 cups and 18 seasons later Darryl Sydor just retired and is in his first year of coaching. He was just messing with Rome though and all was good. Rome might want that take back.

Was very surprised at how small Rome was. Granted I am just under 6' 3", but damn dude has a small frame. Also must be very worried about germs as one of his handlers had Purel hand gel always at the ready.

As team guests go he is top 5 on my list behind both Bush Presidents and Josh Davis Olympic Swimmer, but ahead of Hillary, any NBAer, and all the Houston Texans.

That is pretty sweet. You should have told him about the history of the boards. Then you should have asked him if it was really Travis Rogers behind the whole "boner in sweatpants" phone call.

Yeah Screwy, you would have gotten to the bottom of that boner.

That's been common knowledge for awhile. I think some people referred to him as "Van Elf" at SCIII.

I won a VIP pass to the Buffalo Tour Stop in '01 and met him there. I'd say he's no taller than about 5'7" or so.

Btw, Lefty, I didn't know you had a connection to the Aeros. Loyal Amerks fan here (although management has absolutely killed the team in recent years).

Yeah, I have an ops job with the team.

The Amerks were not on the schedule this season, but next time they are I will drop you a line when we are on our way. Looking to wrap up a playoff spot in the next few days, as we are currently in first but the admirals have a few games in hand.

Like the uni too. It is a B-17 coming out of the center of a puck. Back in the IHL days when we won the Turner Cup and prior to the Minny Wild taking over ownership we use to rock WWII style uni. Had the star and bar on each shoulder.

Your hands are sanitized?

Well, how's your ass doing? Cause that's where trouble's really brewing.

Because let's face it -- if you didn't have an ass, you wouldn't really need the hand sanitizer.

Sorry, that just reminded me of Jake Johannsen's I Love You Man special on Showtime... which I'd recommend to everyone.
