I'll reply to #2 first.
This is what I see ...

Because ONLY Christ destroys the work of destruction that satan has brought upon man, or a man.
That is why God removed Moses and Elias (in that passage) and left ----> only Christ Jesus.
What does that mean, especially within the context of the next statement.

And those who realize Christ will block the destruction.
"Realize Christ" ? How ? Is it a decision, an emotion, an action, what does it mean ?
For instance, I understand it as being that there was to be NO SALVATION whatsoever unless Christ accepted His lot and fullfilled the Prophecy. Gethsemene, praying that this cup would pass but ultimate submission to the will of the Father.
That we too, are to follow suit and submit ourselves to the will of the Father.
Is that "realizing Christ" ?
One might
deeply think about two (among many
similar) things Jesus said to his apostles.
DEEPLY consider.
Matthew 28:18
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
John 15:5
He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Why did God send Christ?
Reading Genesis 3 (and 1 & 2 along with it is good), one can see why.
Simply put, satan stole everything from mankind - including our life.
And very simply put, a man
regains everything if he simply takes the one solution God promised in Genesis 3:15, which is Christ.
Nothing else works.
In Genesis 3, after Adam became separated from God, God told him that the very
ground was now cursed and that he would labor, but it would only bring him thorns and thistles - Genesis 3:17,18.
No matter how hard a person strives apart from Christ, it will ultimately bring him nothing.
Many many Churches
say,
"Christ, Christ, yes, Jesus Christ." - but if you look more closely at them, they are DEEPLY entrenched in Moses and Elias.
Legalism and/or mysticism.
It's satan's playground.
It only brings "thorns and thistles."
Mose was great, but he isn't the Christ.
Same for Elias, Socrates, Buddah, Einstein, ... etc.
Realizing that only Christ works, is the beginning of realizing Christ.

Looking at what David wrote is good here.
Psalms 1:1-3
[1]Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
[2] But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
[3] And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Christ is the complete fulfillment of the law (Matthew 5:17) - which we we
ought to meditate on day and night.
Meditation on Christ, or God's Word,
IS prayer.
That is how we connect to God, and that is how we "prosper."
Meditation on things
other than Christ, or God's Word ----> is satan's playground.
One who goes there will find serious difficulties and unhappiness.
