It's going to get far worse in C-bus before it gets better.
The latest story is that Tressel lied (again) when he said he told nobody about the emails from the douchebag lawyer. Now it turns out that he forwarded them to TP"s "mentor".

Kremer voiceover: “But McClover says there were money handshakes from boosters at other football camps too. At Auburn for a couple hundred dollars and at Michigan State. All the schools denied any wrongdoing. And things really started heating up a few months later when he went to Ohio State for an official visit where schools get a chance for one weekend to host prospective athletes. McClover says there were money handshakes from alumni there too. About a thousand dollars. And something else to entice him.”
McClover: “They send girls my way. I partied. When I got there I met up with a couple guys from the team. We went to a party and they asked me to pick any girl I wanted.”
Kremer: “Did she offer sexual services?“
McClover: “Yes.”
Kremer: “Did you take them?”
McClover: “Yes.”
Kremer: “McClover committed to Ohio State right after that weekend. The recruiter at Ohio State who says he dealt with McClover that weekend denied the school was involved in any wrongdoing.”

I'll wait until the NCAA rules on the issue. It's already pretty obvious that the media is about a month behind on reporting the stuff that the NCAA already knows about. And message boards are on average another two weeks behind that.

I was watching a new episode of Pawn Stars last night when the basketball game was on commercial. They showed some guy who brought in a couple pair of those gold pant awards OSU gives out to their players, looking to make a few bucks.

One was from 2002 and the other from 2008.

If this isn't Lack of Institutional Control, then nothing is. Coach knows his players are dirty and tries to cover it up, if you think he was the only one at the school to know, youre a fool. Tressel may fall on the sword to protect other OSU staff but he wasnt alone in knowing what was going on.
Coach knows players are cheating
Players play anyway as coach tries to cover it up
When players are outed for cheating coach tries to cover own ass
Whoopsie, there is proof coach knew all along

The NCAA will be digging deeper during their investigation and I'm sure they smell blood. IF they find that Gene Smith or anyone else in the administration knew of the violations then, yes, they've got a case for lack of institutional control. As it stands now, Tressel is alone in the cover up and lying to the NCAA, and it was him alone who knew he was putting guys on the field who should have been declared ineligible. Tressel will have to go and tOSU will be sanctioned, but not as heavily as they would if Smith or others were knowingly violating the rules and lying to the NCAA. It's going to get even uglier in Columbus in the near future but I hope that tOSU fans here will remain a class act and not go into Toejam mode when it happens.....and, given the class of tOSU posters on this board, I don't think that will happen. As an Iowa fan, I'll rather enjoy seeing the NCAA put the boots to the Buckeyes (as will most other Big Ten fans) for violating the rules.

Head coach knew before the season, there is physical proof of this, they deserve much much more than USC was struck with. An assistant coach allegedly being told a player is on the take with a 2 minute cel phone call at 3 am days after that player has already left the school isnt nearly as bad as proof of several players being on the take and then allowing them to play out the year.
LOIC for Ohio State
Make the school cut all ties with Jim Tressel and the other rule breakers the way USC was forced to cut ties with Reggie Bush. Ban Tressel from coaching college sports the way the NCAA forced McNair out.
USC fans are pissed because the NCAA punished them much more severely than their crime warranted, the NCAA switched committee members to someone who was not eligible to be on the committee, the school was not given the opportunity to cross examine or even address the accusations of a convict, the school was not given the due process they were promised by the NCAA. Many schools did far worse and received much less punishment. If you were given a 20 year sentence for a speeding ticket, you would be pissed, especially if you sat there and saw others going faster and and getting away with it.
Dont act like you or fans of your school would not react the same way if an agent came to one of your players step dads, paid the step dad to get the player to leave school early and 5 years later the school is hit with a death sentence like scholarship loss as well as no bowl games for 2 years as if they will ever compete for one when they have 30 fewer players than everyone else.
If USC was made an example of, then lets see the schools that broke the rules receive far worse than USC because obviously the example that was set by killing USC didnt work. Ohio State should lose 150 scholarships over 7 years since the 30 over 3 that USC was hit with didnt work.

whether he is falling on the sword or not...the dude broke his contract first and foremost. so that alone should get him fired in my book...
and well OSU self reported schumck or whatever...did USC self report anything? No they stone walled the NCAA and threw up their middle finger...also...the NCAA already ruled on the players...suspended 5 games...that what happens when you self report, etc...they sold this shit in what 2008/2009...so it only took 1-2 years...not more than 5...
fuck JT...he violated his contract and lied...fire him I don't care...but you won't hear my whine and bitch and moan if something goes down where they lose schollie's, etc

From the recent report, it appears that the NCAA has Tressel's head on its main chopping block. Based on OSU's recent cooperative history with the NCAA and the fact that Gene Smith is Mr. NCAA Committee himself, not sure how far they will probe into the compliance & AD side of the issue. But nonetheless, these people move like molasses and chances are the investigation will drag on for a while.
That's not to say that the AD side is clean as a whistle either. I personally don't trust Smith, especially when I see him at midcourt during halftime of the Final Four presenting awards on behalf of some NCAA committee he's on. Makes me scratch my head. Would not be suprised at all if he knew about this situation beforehand as well but is just using all his clout to save his own arse. But we may never know.
But Tressel will probably not survive this. I think the NCAA will inevitably force OSU's hand into letting him go to avoid further punishment and media attacks. But the timing of that will be the big question mark.

At least 50 cars sold or given to Ohio State players
One car, a 2-year-old Chrysler 300 with fewer than 20,000 miles, was titled to then-sophomore defensive player Thaddeus Gibson in 2009. Documents show the purchase price as $0. Gibson said he did not know why the title showed a zero for the purchase price and said he was still paying for the car.
State law requires dealers to report accurate information about all car sales for tax purposes.
1 10 year old chevy shitbox sedan = LOIC what does 50 cars equal?
School officials have seen no evidence of players getting special treatment in vehicle sales, Douglas Archie, associate athletic director for compliance, said in a statement Saturday.
Oh yeah, stick to that defense... it totally worked
Ohio State deserves the death sentence unless the nzaa is completely biased.
Pryor's mother and brother also purchased cars from the dealerships. Kniffin loaned his own car to Pryor for a three-day test drive to Pryor's home in Jeannette, Pa.
Kniffin and the owner of one of the dealerships he worked for, Jason Goss, have attended seven football games as guests of players, including the 2007 national championship game and the 2009 Fiesta Bowl.
shit, salesmans name is Kniffin, USC is fucked,, add 10 years and another 100 lossed scholarships to their punishment.

DeepShitGate for Ohio State.
http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/lo ... ml?sid=101
Why do relatives of players drive from Pennsylvania to Columbus to purchase a car, unless it was a sweetheart deal?
Simply look at Tressels history, and this clearly fits the pattern
Ray Isaac and other players at Youngstown State involved with shady car deals that were facilitated by a guy that Tressel introduced the players to(Mickey Monus)
Maurice Clarett and his allegations of being provided loaner cars that were facilitated by Ohio State and Tressel.
OC Jim Bollman reprimanded for arranging a sweetheart car loan for a recruit in the '05 or '06 season.
Now this.
You figure it out. This really isn't too difficult to see that the house of cards is collapsing before our very eyes.
