RIP: Gil-Scott Heron
""On a lonely planet spinning its way toward damnation amid the fear and despair of a broken human race, who is left to fight for all that is good and pure and gets you smashed for under a fiver? Yes, it's the surprising adventures of me, Sir Digby Chicken-Caesar!"

Re: RIP: Gil-Scott Heron
Saw him perform sometime in the mid to late 70s in San Diego. I think he was the opening act for Stevie Wonder.
I remember one song, "I beg your pardon America" about Nixon, Watergate and Nixon's pardon. Part of it went someting like this:
What was the cause of this pardon? He had phlebitis.
Rats bite us and we get no pardons in the Ghetto.
Seemed pretty funny at the time.
