Springfield is such a shithole, I am not sure anyone really noticed that a tornado hit it.

It's weird that on the west side of the highway (right along the CT River), there's a nice little of strip of recently developed land (including the Basketball HOF) that was barely touched.

Meanwhile, east of the highway, right down Main St (which is Crackville Central) got its shit pushed in. Again... not that you can really tell.

George Bush's fault.

We don't get a lot of avalanches down here in the south, but we do know they don't slide uphill.
Tornado myths.

3. Tornadoes always travel northeast.

It's true that many tornadoes move in that general direction, but tornadoes are notorious for abruptly changing direction, moving in some other direction when encountering cold air, and even backtracking and hitting an area again. Tornadoes have been reported moving southwest their entire duration--exactly opposite of the "rule."

well, that was a bit close ('bout 15 miles north).

sure hope dick cheney fixes this obvious program glitch in the hurricane/flood/twister generator and gets it locked back onto flyover shitholeville.

At least they're smart enough not to live in Alabama. So they got that going for them.

I know better than most just how many necks there are up north. I live in Western NY. We're crawling with Dale Earnhardt wannabees.

Jesus Christ! Those guys are everywhere!
indeed they are.

there are basically all types of dumbfukk everywhere. densities do however vary. having lived in both the south and the north, i've witnessed it first hand. you can find mullets all over. the difference between the north and the south in this department is you can find bank presidents wearing mullets in the south

drove through springfield today. holy crap, that place got it's shit pushed in but good.

as if it really needed it.

the path of the damage wasn't very wide, maybe 100 yards or so, but where there is damage, it is pretty hard core. many houses roofless, some sideless, a few just a pile of rubble. of course, being springfield, you sometimes have to look closely to see if the damage is recent tornado inflicted or more weathered general urban blight.

my wife and daughter drove through monson yesterday and took some pics. rack the hell out of the old yankee craftmanship on display in one house which was rolled over onto it's roof, but, more or less still intack. it is too old to be held together by square headed deck screws, but, whatever was used, was up to it.

I read somewhere that this has been the worst year for tornadoes in 75 years. Is that right? Lucky for us that nothing has hit within 100 miles. Not even many watches or warnings. My heart goes out to Joplin Tuscaloosa and other places which have not been so fortunate. With all the technological advancement we've had you might wonder what it would take to be able to find a way to tame an atmosphere before these beasts can be produced. Maybe one day.
