Anyways, Dazed and Confused is the 2nd to last track on Led Zep's (if ucant drops in here to apostrophe smack, I will fight him) first album. Apparently not content with kicking ass from Amsterdam to Zurich, they follow that up with, have mercy, yet another track that makes damn sure everybody KNOWS they just had their ass kicked.

Yeah, I'm partial to the studio stuff, for the purity you understand.

I liked Zep when I was a kid. I LOVED Zep after a college roomie introduced me to bootleg live Zep.

I saw them in Seattle in '73 on that same tour...
pretty amazing show....best I'd ever seen at that time

the ventilation inside the arena was for shit and I remember they had a hard time clearing out the haze....still, good times

One of my least favorite Zep songs, at least off that monster 1st album, but it's still damn good. They could've retired after that first effort and they'd have still been legends.

I wouldn't even begin to imagine how big a party a Who show circa 72-73 would have been. Those shows just seemed like your good buddies lugged their amps into your living room, invited everyone you knew and then proceeded to blow the doors off. Beats the fuck out of Plants screeching and Page's riff-wanking.

Live At Leeds is the standard for live recorded performances to me. Period.

Damn difficult to argue with that. The Who are another all time fave of mine. And Deep Purple Mark II in 1985 is probably the single best concert I have ever seen live.

As far as Zeppelin is concerned, I would recommend listening to their performance at Royal Albert Hall in 1970 that was released as part of their live DVD a few years back. "How the West Was Won" is pretty epic as well. Both of those stack up well against anything from that, or any other era.

If you want to guarantee no Page overdubs, then check out their 1973 show at Southampton. Or their 1977 show in Cleveland. Those are also monsters.

I saw the Dead 4 different times between 86 and 92. Three of the shows were great and the 92 show (The one post Brent show I saw) was meh. For me a Dead show was just as much about the scene and the people as it was about the band. I just wish (shut the fuck up Sam, Felix, Mikey...) that I could have seen them with Keith or Pigpen. I'll give them their props and say that the 87 and 88 Rochester shows are among the 10 best shows I've ever seen live.

Saw them about 12 times between 88 and 95 (a couple of weeks before Jerry died).

It might have been 92 when Bruce Hornsby took over for Brent, but I'm not sure if he did the whole tour.


Tightest live band I've ever seen, by far. Throw in some heavy doses and whatever else passed by, and it was a religious experience.

I resemble that remark. During the 7-2-87 show at Silver Stadium I saw a flying saucer land behind the center field scoreboard during space. No really, I did. It wasn't the 2-3 doses I dropped with a bunch of Hells Angels before the show. Those had NOTHING to do with it.

Back in 88 (?), I learned that just because some Jamaican dude smokes you out with some opium, it doesn't mean it actually is opium.


Took a while to get my bearings back after that one.


Beware of Rastas bearing gifts when you're several doses and a bag of shrooms deep already. Especially if the temperature is well into the triple-digits.

At least I wasn't running away in mortal fear of every glow stick I saw, like my buddy was. But his performance that evening should land him in the Guinness Book for "most drugs taken in one evening."

Moby, check out how cool Bonzo is on "Black Country Woman." I never really thought of "BCW" as being one of his showcase pieces, but listen to that thing. Dude is just so damn funky and still so powerful even on a goofy little bluesy folk song.

I was 13-1/2 years old when PG came out and I got my sweaty hands on that double album. I was so blown away by Houses Of The Holy, Trampled Under Foot and Kashmir off album 1 side 1... speechless, really.

It probably took me another 10-15 years to fully realize just how great the rest of that album was.
