DEATH PENALTY! NO...SCRAP THE PROGRAM!!
Up Here -- we're watching the hammer that's hovering over our heads, and just wondering how hard the NCAA is going to drop it.Sudden Sam wrote:Down here: recruiting scandals, 9th graders committing, and investigations anytime someone burps at Auburn.War Wagon wrote:So this is how you boys entertain yourselves whilst awaiting the season?
Have you not read or heard about what that $25k "recruiting service" from Will Lyles actually turned out to be?Sudden Sam wrote:I may be completely wrong, but I don't expect the Ducks to get hit too hard.Dinsdale wrote: Up Here -- we're watching the hammer that's hovering over our heads, and just wondering how hard the NCAA is going to drop it.

Thanks for mentioning the additional evidence.Dinsdale wrote:A bunch of videos, and a few-hundred page pamphlet.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying WE (sup Toejam) didn't buy players, but let's keep it factual.
You're right they had signed with our teams . . . in previous seasons when they were still actually high school recruits. However we were not paying $25k for outdated BS as a cover up for the player(s) Oregon bought.Dinsdale wrote:Oh... and some of the guys shown in the videos ended up signing with teams some of you guys root for...
Gets us into the whole "glass houses" dealio.
Awful lot of Lyles' guys ended up at LSU.
From how it's looking right now, and it's all speculation, but Oregon might be in deep shit. Myles Brand isn't around to look the other way at all things Oregon (and Indiana) any more.
I guess we're seeing why Bellotti was ushered out -- he didn't play that game.

In my top 10 of greatest movies ever. Now I have to watch it.
Incorrect according to your own local fishwrap. The OrgonianOnline reported Monday evening that the "national package" supposedly purchased for the 2010 recruiting season in which Oregon has claimed was the product of the $25k in question that was paid to Will Lyles contained no players who were more recent than 2009 some dating as far back as 2006. Furthermore out of 140 outdated profiles in a "national package" all but six of the players were from Texas, the vast majority from the Houston area. One of the recruits in the package dated 2011 was defensive lineman Nosa Eguae out of Mansfield Summit High School in Arlington, Texas. Eguae signed with Auburn in 2009 and started 11 games for the Tigers last season, including the BCS National Championship game against Oregon. He had four tackles, one for loss against the Ducks. Another listed recruit, wide receiver Josh Rake out of Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas, died in a car accident in on Sept. 30, 2010 during his freshman year at the University of North Texas.Dinsdale wrote:I see where your confusion comes from -- the package was titled "2011 Nation Recruiting Package."
If that were the case, it would indeed be outdated.
It was the 2010 package, with 2010 HS grads. Apparently a typo on Lyles' part.
Again, don't get me wrong, but you're going quite Toejam here.
The alleged violations aren't from this last recruiting season.
And if you think Oregon is the only team that lined Lyles' pockets, I've got a bridge to sell you. We know FOR FACT several other teams wrote him checks after "his" guys signed there -- LSU and Auburn being two of them. Pretty sure OU is on that list, too. I know Okie St is.
And now I'm reading that there's probably little evidence that Oregon committed major violations... they did, but there's little evidence to support it.
