Well, Mike Leach is suing ESPN over the article by Joe Schad. Maybe they don't want an employee of theirs who helped Leach write the book digging up internal info or communications to help Leach out. I'm not saying ESPN is in the right here, but I understand why they would do that to protect their own interests.

Or they could just fire Schad for printing a potentially libelous article against a coach with a law degree. An article that Schad did no research for and was being used as a puppet by ESPN. Ooops. There's the flaw in that approach.

Feldman should quit and go write for Yahoo. He might not get the same scratch, but at least he would be with an company with some balls.

I agree they should fire Schad, but from a "cover their own ass" perspective, I don't see that hammer coming down until the lawsuit is over. Firing Schad now would admit guilt. While they are guilty, you do understand why they would cover their ass, right?

I listened to Doug Gotlieb interview Mike Leach either yesterday or the day before. Gotlieb kept trying to bully Leach as he always does to his callers, but Leach shut his ass up. I do like Leach, and I wish we had him as our coach. He's going to sue ESPN for the earnings he missed out on in his contract as well as potential future earnings because his reputation took a huge hit. I see Leach getting a big payday as well as another big time CFB gig. He may even coach at A&M if Sherman doesn't work out just to give a big F-U to tceh. I'd guess a court will give him upwards of 50 million if ESPN doesn't settle out of court. I hope they don't settle either as they would demand the terms of the settlement not be made public...in other words, we don't want the public to know how much we fucked up.

After graduating from St. John's University, Schad covered college and professional sports for New York Newsday/Long Island Newsday and also worked as a researcher for ESPN The Magazine.

In 1999, Schad left New York and began working as a beat writer and general assignment reporter for the Orlando Sentinel/Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel where he covered the University of Florida. During his tenure at the Sentinel, he broke numerous football and men's basketball stories including: a gambling scandal, street brawl, transfers, drug suspensions, accusations of rape, players turning pro and coaching hires. He covered Steve Spurrier, Ron Zook and Billy Donovan.

In 2003, Schad began covering the Miami Dolphins for the Palm Beach Post where he garnered national attention for his work on the first report of Ricky Williams' drug use and an FBI investigation into hate mail sent to several prominent athletes, including 2007 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Jason Taylor.

Schad currently resides in Plantsville, CT.
