No, nothing to do with Buddhists.
It's a stylishly produced police drama, set in Rome, showing on PBS Mastepiece Mystery. Rufus Sewell plays Aurelio Zen, a Venetian detective working in Rome and, apparently, the only honest cop in Italy. He lives with his mother, BTW. The love interest, played by Caterina Murino, is a knockout.
There are only three episodes. The first two have been excellent. Catch this show if you can.
