Oh, that's right... if anyone has actually heard of them, and they appear to be hetero, then it's a no-go for Screwey.

I'm not the biggest RHCP fan, but puhleeez.

Have you ever actually had sex... with a woman?

Because from your postings here, one would never know it.

"Indiesnob" is, by definiton, a faggot.

As mentioned, I'm not a huge fan, but sorry -- Frusciante and Flea have more talent that the entire rosters of MGMT and Arcade Fire combined... not up for debate. Not even close.

Probably, but AF certainly makes better albums.

Screwball is a misogynist. His hero is Tom Leykis. I'm sure he got shot down a lot as a young man.

Ya' know, I pretty much despised RHCP for at least the first 10 years of hearing them over played on the radio. Couldn't really understand what it was so many people liked about them. But at some point in the last 5 years they started to grow on me and I really can't explain why, they just did. I don't automatically change the station when they come on now.

But now I'm worried about this new album they've got coming out, at least this first song I've heard, Rain Dance Maggie (what a great name for a song, btw) - I liked it immediately. I guess this probably means that in 5 years I'll hate it.

RHCP hasn't put out a decent album in years. Most underwhelming concert I ever saw was RHCP at Van Andel in 1999. They weren't impressive at all.

I'm willing to even give Californiacation its props, but everything after that is just regurgitated shit. I thought One Hot Minute was good and there is really not much more you can say about their earlier stuff that hasn't been said. But lately, eh.

Every band runs its course.

Most early Chili Peppers stuff is stupid. I liked it at the time, but I was also rather stupid back then.

I remember buying Mother's Milk and some Suicidal Tendencies tape the week they came out in 89 or 90. Good album, Mother's Milk. Suicidal... not so much.

BSSM is a goddamned classic. Don't know if time or new label or Rubin tamed them. I think the first time they toured behind this album they had John frusciante, and then they had some eastern europeon and then someone else and then...

I thought One Hot Minute was turrible. I realized how much I liked Frusciante. shout out to lovebuzz. miss you, babygirl.

Californication had its moments. Loved Scar Tissue.

I like Californication as well but this probably has to be my favorite. RHCP are really quite brilliant musicians and songwriters. I don't know that there's anybody you can compare them to... Pearl Jam, maybe.

^^^ My fukking point, exactly. That sounds like every other fucking single they've released since Californiacation. They just rehash the same shit every time.

anthony bores me these days. LA is not the same town that "sets my mind a'blaze". it's all the same since blood sugar and the jock rock drumming. i used to like those guys in the late 80's. live shows were pretty good. dave navarro sucks, btw. was much cooler when he had heavy metal hair and not a pretty boy.

Fuck Kiedis. Call me oversensitive, but when I saw him in 99, he didn't even drop an obligatory "I used to live around here" one time during the show. Fuck him and his shitty band.

We've got him here now, at least part-time.

Not sure if he settled in the Belmont neighborhood, but that's all the rage these days. I believe Isaac Brock, Steve Malkmus, James Mercer, and one (or more) of the Sleater-Kinney chicks all live within a few blocks of each other... kinda weird, since while there's plenty of nice old houses, it's certainly not the most ritzy area. But it is a stone's throw from Hawthorne, the hippy capital of the universe these days.

No, you can't compare RHCP to PJ because PJ is still putting out relevant music instead of mailing it in and re-hashing the same fucking shit for the last 15 years. Does Kiedis and crew play 26-30 songs per show? Doubt it.
