Last year's young NL ERA champ had his first start tonight against the Butt Pirates.

6.2 IP
4 H
0 R
0 ER
10 K
1 BB
96 P

They took him out with 2 out and 2 on in the seventh. Linebrink got the third out.

Jake won't get the decision because it's still a scoreless tie, but damn what a great start.

My favorite player when I was younger was Nolan Ryan. Now, baseball has become a fucking joke. Maybe, just maybe, I could watch a game this year if they clean this shit up.

Baseball always had the problem of being a slow game. I agreed and the homerun shit that got out of hand is attributed to that. Maybe if pitchers get the chance, then the game can return to its greatness.

What I love is that talk radio has been saying baseball is more popular than ever. Yet when I see highlights I see empty stands. Nice way to make your jobs more relevant radio asshats!! Hype up 2 games that are dying (baseball and basketball), just to fill in those long months without football.

How I longed for the days when stats mattered.

held the Pirates to 0 ER. What are the chances of the mighty Pirates being held scoreless. they've got bats in their lineup like... uh... Andy Van Slyke still playing?

No but Bill Madlock, and Willie Stargell could come back today, and have better numbers then any current Pirate scrub out there.

Why are there separate forums? You'd build a lot more traffic if you didn't have them. Forums have always been overated. The movement for a forum is usually led by the one who is losing an argument and wants to have it placed elsewhere.

When you are talking with your friends do you say? "I'm going to talk hockey now so get your hockey ready. I'm going to talk about the war in Iraq, so if you could please be political at this moment. The NBA, are you ready? OK, the NBA is different now. etc....

if MIkey was a "newbie"...that may FLY.

i'm not a m0d of this Forum...just my opinion that its a Baseball Forum topic.

if the Thread particiants want to talk Baseball...maybe they would see "other" posted Baseball Topics to talk about also...GROWING the Baseball Forum????

otherwise, flip over the freakin'sammitch before the smoke detector goes off.

Careful or I'll post a C&P without commenting on it or making a joke about it or anything.

Or you have a group of guys that just want to talk about a specific sport and don't want trolls and tards to spam every thread (ie: Main Street).

Too bad EY had to dislocate his shoulder just to keep Peavy in the ballpark.

Jake was definately firing last night. Have to say Redman looked sharp also. I don't know why Oakland let him go, although on the telecast Grant and Gwynn seemed to be alluding to that he is a big asshole in the clubhouse.

I'm not any more a Giants fan than a Padres fan.
Padres first. Giants second.
You probably can't understand that but I grew up a Giants fan, and left there when I was 18.
Old bonds (heh) die slowly and sometimes never completely.

Probably more than anything, I'm a Dodger hater.
