why would any conference want Texas? texas is like a hot chick who is batshit crazy and aint afraid to show it. the revenues from the program are enticing but Texas don't want to share its revenues and Texas don't care about you and don't care about your conference. who wants to get into a relationship with texas?

I'd just as soon let them slide into irrelevance in their steadily dwindling conference where they can pat themselves on the back about grabbing an ever-larger piece of a rapidly shrinking pie. I'd rather see the Pac invite Boise, but I think the lure of "expanding the conference footprint" into Texas will be too tempting to resist. Hopefully, Tejas is humbled enough by the departure of half their former harem that they finally fall in line in the Pac. Not counting on that, though...

take it for what it's worth: lotta talk on the OU boards this AM that OU has more than one offer. that Prez Boren was in very high spirits last night. and quoting a Big XII source (whoever that would be) that "OU holds all the cards".

Big Ten possibly one of those offers. would not be my first choice, but better than the "new" SWC imo.

Son, your the most active, because you're the last, fool! Anyone of significance is already gone or has one foot out the door. Mizzou will land somewhere just fine I believe, they can afford to stay on the sidelines for now. I don't care what OU fan thinks, Texas owns you, you can't go to the PAC without them because of your "rivalry" and Texas won't give into surrendering their precious TV deal with ESPN and lose being power broker in "their" conference to go to the PAC. The PAC won't pander to Texas' calling the shots and Texas can't survive without that built in ego. Oklahoma has been a wallflower behind the scenes because they know they suck the tit of Bevo. The agreement to let them leave was contingent on assurances from the rest of the Big 12 that the league would survive. If not, A&M may not get invited next week as the SEC may fear lawsuit. i don't think he settles for a former Conference USA/MWC boost to where OU is.

the Pac is top heavy with Stan, Cal, UCLA, USC (lately)....UW in the middle....and some 2nd tier types the rest (UO and the AZs school may have cultural capital with cool chic and fake titties and sun but aren't top 100 US News schools. Iowa State is ranked above nearly half the Pac. US News is BS, but that's what people believe.

but, Dins is right, Boise doesn't have a home in that regard. maybe it's hypocritical since clearly football success over the last decade is driving this thing and all the "collegey" things we say we love are crap at the end of the day when it comes to a playoff....

Tejas was courted heavily by the Pac-10 when NU was in discussions with the B1G, but the main point of contention was the Long Horn Network. Tejas wanted it. The Pac-10 commish didn't because they are forming a conference network. Unless they are willing to abandon the LHN, they won't get an invite to the Pac-12.

Texas president Bill Powers, Oklahoma president David Boren and Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin were excluded from the call, sources said. But Beebe advised the other presidents in the Big 12 to "work on Texas" to get the Longhorns to stay in the Big 12, sources said.

It's Beebe's belief that if Texas refuses to go to the Pac-12 that Oklahoma would not get a bid from the Pac-12, sources said. But another source close to the situation said if Oklahoma and Oklahoma State indicated to the Pac-12 that they wanted to be a part of that league, they would be admitted.

Beebe released a statement to Orangebloods.com Friday night that said, "We continue to work hard for the long-term stability of the Big 12 Conference."

I especially like the part where even though OU is the one expressing interest in leaving, that Beebe is advising the other presidents to "work on Texas". It's all about Tejas. Yes, NU was undisciplined in its penalties, but when you have several games decided by a throw of a penalty flag on plays that shouldn't have had them thrown, it tends to get in your craw. You're telling me that if you guys had come close to winning the Big 12 championship, but that the refs would put one second back on the clock to allow Texas to kick the field goal that it wouldn't stick with you? That's what started it.

They've made an effort to halt those penalties, most of which were on offense by the way. This first game, they only had 3 penalties.

Nebraska proposed the structure in 1994, it fought equal revenue sharing in 1999 and 2000 when Oklahoma State and Kansas proposed equal at conference conferences. Revenue sharing wasn't unfair until Nebraska wasn't the program cashing the checks.

I never said the conference would be fine.

I said Oklahoma would be fine and we are . . . certainly in better shape than Colorado's bankrupt athletic department and only able to even operate, what is it now, the bare minimum of 13 sports to remain at the division 1 FCS level under NCAA regulations? Yes, NU was undisciplined in its penalties, but when you have several games decided by a throw of a penalty flag on plays that shouldn't have had them thrown, it tends to get in your craw. You're telling me that if you guys had come close to winning the Big 12 championship, but that the refs would put one second back on the clock to allow Texas to kick the field goal that it wouldn't stick with you? That's what started it.

They've made an effort to halt those penalties, most of which were on offense by the way. This first game, they only had 3 penalties.

and, you guys had a circle jerk about OU as a "backstabber", breaking some kid of sacred bond. you know why OU fan harps on the 70's and 80's, because that's when we respected you.
