For scratching out close wins and keeping the Big 10 slightly ahead of the Big East as a football conference.
Fuck MSU, tOSU and Northwestern for losing to inferior teams. Wisky’s SOS took a bit of a hit yesterday.
And bradhusker, how about those Nebraska pinkshirts? If you give up 38 to Washington, what is the real UW going to do to you? Can you say “butcher-rape”? Yes, I’m pretty sure you can.

Brady didn't want to run it up on old friends Ron and Mike and Tyrone. scUM should have accidentally been up 50 at the half.

Indiana and Purdue both winning was more note-worthy.

Gee, and here I was thinking that
one of those schools had won a championship in the last couple of decades...
silly me.
From the little I saw, UDub's defense didn't look nearly so anemic as week 1 when Eastern Washington moved the ball at will.

I am living in the present and am correct on both counts.

You can scratch Mike Hart from that list. Perhaps you've heard, he hates Michigan.

imo, the board has really missed the presence of BadgerFan since Madtown Fred went away. years ago. Can Goobs step into this role? Is he in here for real, through Madison's thick and thin? I guess we'll find out after Wisconsin's first loss.

I was here last year after their first loss. I’ll be here after their next loss, which, based on their schedule should be some time in 2012.

Good call, as per usual. Inferior teams are often favored over superior teams.

Often, no. Occasionally, yes. And inferior teams occasionally beat superior teams.

Really? Can you name another time when an inferior team was favored over a supposed "supperior" team?
And you can keep thinking MSU was the supperior team. The fact is MSU had the advantage over ND at 2 position groups, QB and RB, that's it.
I'm sure you saw very little of that game, but ND kicked MSU's ass on both lines.
But sure, MSU is the supperior team.

The spread is set so as to balance the betting evenly on both teams, not as a prediction of the final score. So yes, from time to time an inferior team may be favored in order to balance the money. Particularly a factor with teams that have large, myopic fan bases (‘sup ND).

I'm aware how spreads work. Do you care to cite an example of another time where an inferior team was favored?
The Big 10 is weak, again. One of the three ranked teams was an underdog, on the road, to an 0-2 team, and had their dicks kicked in for 4 straight quarters. It wasn't a fluke win, it was an ass kicking from whistle to whistle.

The Pittsburgh game this weekend.

Gotcha, you base your "inferior/supperior" opinion based strictly on the teams records. Noted. There is no way in hell anyone, outside of you, thought Pittsburgh was the supperior team.

Yeah, so you don't have any examples.

Any pick 'em game. The home team automatically gets 3 points. You do understand that in a close game, inferior/supperior (sic) is somewhat subjective?

Again, I know how spreads work. You do understand that you can't cite a specific example to your bullshit claim, don't you?
So take the Pitt vs. ND game. How is Pitt superior? The home team gets 3 points so Vegas views this as almost a 10 point spread for ND on a neutral field. How is Pitt superior?

Jesus Christ. I was just pulling your chain. On the Pittsburgh game, that is. I still think MSU was and is a better team.
This week I think USC is better than Arizona, yet Arizona's giving 1.5. I think UCLA is better that Oregon State, but OSU's giving 1.5. This shit happens every week. And sometimes the shittier team wins.

Shitter teams win all the time, but shitter teams are rarely favored, especially when you factor in the 3 point home field advantage.
And I thought, and still think ND is the better team than MSU. Vegas thought so as well, and ND proved it.

Secondary as well. But ND was the better all-around team...they proved it.
