Honestly, things have been a bit slow so far in my book. The latest has brought the old dazzle back...

Started watching on Netflix about a week ago and am only about 10 epis in. Very good so far. The wife and daughter finally caught up with Mad Men last night so I might get some more TV time.

So wikipedia (stay far away, spoilers) tells me there will be a 5th and final season..? That seemed like a natural ending. What a great show.

Yep. Cranston was on the Scott Van Pelt Show last week talking about it. I was shocked because I thought this was the end. Guess not.

i could have lived with that end. i was a little down on season 3, but 4 was pretty righteous.

It really did. I don't know where they go from here. Hopefully not over the shark.

There are 16 more episodes to come, which may or may not be split across 2 partial seasons. If you aren't up to speed then don't read further...
Vince Gilligan, the creator of the show, has stated on several occassions that the show was essentially showing how Mr. Chips turns into Scarface. Walt has certainly gone downhill since the shows inception but was he at a Scarface level yet? My answer is no. He has never been running the show. At first he was finding his way dealing with the Tuco's and Crazy 8's of the world. Then he was the chemist for Gus. For him to truly be Scarface he needs to be THE BOSS running things.
With Gus gone and the Super Lab destroyed Walt has his OUT. He clearly won't take it and it'll be interesting to see how they ultimately put him into the top slot. My guess, and that's all it is, is that the show ends with Walt killed. Be it from cancer, which might not be in remission, or by the life he has chosen as drug kingpin.
Very, very good show. Not to The Wire or Mad Men status but damn close.

Don't forget also, Mike is still alive..albeit still in a mini coma type state?
maybe he comes back in final season and works for Walt in your guess?
who knows but i'm ready for the next season!

the only option left is Jesse V. Walt with Hank and the DEA. Walt's poisoning ambiguity (not Ricin, the plant by the pool whatever)....comes to Jesse. that's the real show dynamic. Captain Cook and Walt.

I have no doubts that Mike will make another appearance, but I'm not really sure how he'll come back. I can envision a scenario where he and Jessie partner up, Mike did seem to grow to actually like the kid, and "overthrow" Walt.
As far as a Jesse/Walt showdown, don't forget that Jesse is still in the dark about Walt's role in Jane's death. Walt has a tendency to talk to much when either drunk or pilled up so...

Maybe, but I doubt it. Walter is capable of ruthless action when his back is up against the wall, but I just don't see in him the calculated, cold blooded viciousness necessary to run a major operation. He's going to need some more money, though. He has to be just about tapped. 800K for the car wash, 600K to Ted, ~120K for cancer treatment and however much for Hank's PT plus incidentals.
The only thing I'm certain of is that he will die one way or another.

With the first three seasons of this on Netflix, I figured I'd give it a shot. After the first season and a half, I didn't see what the big deal was. The show was more annoying than anything else. Half way through season 2, and I was hooked. Now, I knock off at least 2 episodes a night. Very, very good show.

Finished the first three seasons on Netflix about a week ago. I bought the fourth season from Amazon (streaming HD for $30.99) last night and watched the first three episodes in lieu of witnessing the Chargers' total suckage. Mike driving off into the desert with Jesse in the car. This show is fucking addicting.

It's the creator who's dubbed the show as Walt turning into Scarface so I'm going to take him at his word. FWIW, I disagree that Walt hasn't shown he's capable of being ruthless outside of having his back against the wall. Time and time again he's had his opportunities for an out, and time and time again he's chosen not to take them. Plus back against the wall or not, you've gotta be pretty fookin ruthless to walk into a drug lords den strapped with explosives!
Also, I'm not 100% he ends up dead. It is certainly the most likely scenario but I can picture all the people he "cares" about (Skyler, Jr, Hank, Jesse, Saul?) getting screwed over/killed by his actions and him somehow trucking along. He's left a brutal swath of destruction behind him already.

Walt's ego is the main driver in this story. Anything that gets in its way will eventually be pushed aside or destroyed.

I'm just glad that Bill Burr got an extended arc during the 4th season. Can't wait to see that.
