Tardd Haley

Per one of the local blow-torches, multiple "un-named sources" about Arrowhead confirmed today that Haley's head was squarely on the proverbial chopping block had the Griefs not mounted their miraculous comeback against the hapless Dolts this past Sunday.

Not exactly a ringing vote of confidence from Scott Canoli. Would imagine that it's tough to coach with Career Over troll lurking over your shoulder....

With a roadie at the 'duhs out of the bye week, and a Halloween match-up at home against the Blots that promises to be more trick-than-treat, it will be fascinating to see if Tardd is still stalking the sidelines come November 6th against the Fish. More on this as posted links break....

Tarrd Haley?

Guess it's clear where you stand.

Myself, I thought he had lost the team after week 2. Clearly, that didn't happen when it easily could have. The players bust their ass for him.

I'm not sold on the guy but not near writing him off yet as I was with Herm soon into his tenure. Anybody that could get what he's getting out of Bowe must be doing something right and lets not forget he lost several key players on the way to 0-3.

If Haley was going to be shitcanned, doing so before the BI week might have made sense.
You obviously give yourself an extra week to get things settled as the interim guy takes over.

I don't know what will happen with him in KC, but I'm personally glad he'll be coming to The O at least one more time.

Fuck that guy UP.

I'll bet you are, dogknapper.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City motherfucking CHIEFS, off the bye week, are coming to the town you're 5,000 miles away from to do what they always do... slap dicks upside 'duh jowls.

Naw, just throwin' pops a bone. It is funny smack.

Besides looking like OWS burn-out after an all-night bender, I've got no beef with the guy. Think he's doing the best he can with what he has to work. Many accounts suggest that his players like him, and play hard for him. They're just not very good.

Last season's 10-7 was largely smoke and mirrors, and we all saw what happened every time the Chiefs lined up against a physical team. Spicoli addressed that weakness in training camp this summer by counting Clark Hunt's cap profits while allowing the Chief's most-physical D-linemen ('sup ucan't) to sign with Tennessee and Carolina.

My bitch is more with Mr. Patriots Way - and that act is beginning to wear thin. Other than Berry, Spicoli has yet to draft a player that has made any kind of impact to this team, and his FE pickups have been less than impressive. If there's any firin' to be done this season, I think Scrooge Hunt needs to look at the top. 'Sayin'.

Always?

As in last year?

Oakland basically overpowered you twice.

KC looks like a lesser team in '11 and Oakland looks like a better team in '11.

I really don't like your chances all that much.

Scott and I have a bet again this year.

You could have hit me up - like he did, if you wanted action again.

I really didn't care enough about another bet to propose the wager.

Actually, I had to go before I finished so I just threw that out there for future reference/discussion.

I see some decent players in that those drafts. 2009 was a trainwreck, though. Jackson has been a bust and the only other two players from that draft still on the team are Succop and Washington (who also blows goats). OTH, 2010 was an excellent draft by any measure. Two high quality starters with Berry and Moeaki and five of the seven saw considerable playing time and all them are still with the team. I think it's too early to grade the 2011 class specially considering the lack of a full camp.

Pioli has had one great draft, one shit draft and one that remains to be seen but he has added more quality players than just Berry so, yes, you are a dumbass and should fuck off.

I said impact, asshat, not "quality." The terms are not necessarily one-and-the-same.

Eric Berry is an impact player.

Ryan Succup, Mr. Irrelevent '09, is a nice kicker, and a steal in the 7th Round - but an impact player? Really?

Dex and Javy have improved the return game from Haley's first year, but do teams actually game-plan for those two beyond admonishing their special teams to "make sure you lay a hat on those little fuckers"?

Asomoah and Hudson will most likely both start in the league for 10 years, but right now they're busy learning the game and backing up veterans. "Impact" means Joe Thomas or Jake Long - Not riding the pine behind the likes of Casey Weigman and Ryan Lilja.

Tony Moeaki showed promise after a "quality" rookie year - and the Chiefs were expecting great things from him this year - but guess who got hurt again in training camp? Not quite the "impact" on offense the Chiefs were looking for. Same collar he wore at Iowa, btw, and why he dropped to the 3rd round in the first place.

And yes, the jury IS still out on 2011, though Justin Houston is showing glimpses that he could be a beast - that is, if he can lay off the chronic. So I'll stand by my take, and kindly suggest that you eat-shit-and-die in an OWS dung-heap. TIA.

So ten year NFL starters and quality role players count for nothing? If your GM doesn't deliver at least one all-pro player every year he should be fired?

Yes, you're a fucking moron.

No, Loser, that would be your college education. Clearly, you're struggling with discerning the difference between impact and quality:

im·pact (mpkt)
n.
4. The power of making a strong, immediate impression: a speech that lacked impact.

Tru,

You seem to have a fairly lofty definition of an impact player. Would you care to elaborate on how many players have come out of the last three drafts that would fit your "impact" criteria and how many of those Pioli passed on or had a chance to grab.

I think some word games are being played here.

Many players can surely "make an impact" without being one of the rare IMPACT PLAYERS.

To this point, Pioli hasn't lived up to lofty expectations.

Oh, I dunno, Jack: Try anybody south of #3 in '09? Maybe mvscal will post a list for you. Regardless, Jackson has been an unmitigated disaster. You cannot whiff on a pick that high unless you're Oakland, who clearly has zero expectations of winning anything ever.

'10 was a quality draft for the Chiefs. But outside Berry, it wasn't an impact draft. Other teams had impact drafts.

Jury's still out on '11. Regardless, that isn't the point of this thread. Spicoli isn't exactly signing the likes of Asomugha free agent-wise either. Chiefs woes are not to be laid solely at Haley's feet.

Is that supposed to be a criticism?

Asomugha is a real good player, but Philly overpaid for him (as Oakland did for a couple years).

You don't need a VERY pricey corner who is a bit overrated, you need more quality beef up front on both sides of the ball - and you need another playmaker or two on offense.
QB upgrade, too, at some point.

Btw, the "Oakland has zero expectations of winning anything ever" take is the KYOA moment of the day in here.

Russell is one of THE biggest bust picks ever, no doubt.

But you know what?

I'd stack supposedly senile Al's drafts of '09-'11 up against supposed genius Pioli's and laff my ass off at the ass beating you've taken.

2009: DH Bey, M. Mitchell, M. Shaughnessy, L. Murphy - starters.
B. Meyers - playing time

2010: R. McClain, L. Houston, J. Veldheer, J. Ford, T. Goethel - starters

2011: S. Wisniewski, D. Moore - starters
DV Dyke, C. Chekwa, T. Jones, J. Barksdale - playing time

Some of these guy are now really good players - and they'll get better.

Have you even read this thread pops?

Ret me put this into words even you can forrow:

I wourd be the rast person in the worrd to defend Piori's prayer serections in the Reague's draft . Other than Russerr, rink me to where I raughed at any of Oakrands serections rate-ry.

Out of 24 players drafted over the last three years, only three start. - and one of them is named Tyson Jackson. The other is a kicker. Moeaki would have made the fourth this year. That works out to be a about a whopping 17% of your picks, folks. This is unacceptable. Every other difference-maker on this team (Tamba, DJ, Jamal, Flowers, Bowe, Carr, and Albert) were all drafted by Peterskin.

Which bottom-line's my point: The wheels coming off this thing isn't Tardd's fault. If Clark Hunt is looking to tag a fall-guy and scape-goat for this season's woes, then he might want to take a hard look at the suit in the office next door.

Couldn't disagree MORE, Tru. Pioli has a blueprint for how he is going to continue to build this football team, and he is going to stick with it. I DO agree that he wasn't nearly aggressive enough in free agency before the season began, but perhaps he will be during the next offseason. In the meantime the Chiefs are on a 2-game winning streak and will make it THREE in a row in Oaktown next week.
