Props to the Huskers

Post by Mace »

It's been a busy weekend so I'm just now getting in here to say congrats on the win yesterday. Iowa's defense played a good game but the Husker D took McNutt completely out of the game and, without him, Iowa doesn't have an offense. The Huskers outplayed them and got the well deserved win. Looks like the Insight Bowl may be in our future again this year.

The Hawkeye fans were very friendly and heard nothing negative from either fan base. Sounded like everyone enjoyed the day save the outcome of the score for the Scawkers. Tailgating was a mix of Scarlet and Cream with Black and Gold.
Good luck in the bowl game Mace. Are you hearing any complaining about Fernetz? Someone here posted Iowans paid just north of $542,000 per win this season. We were around $308,000.
This hopefully will become a good rivalry but most here feel it needs to grow into one and not be forced, much like some old Big 12 teams tried to instill on NU. The fact so many Iowans work in the Omaha area adds to the fun locally. Not uncommon to see Iowa gear and flags here all season.
It will take both teams playing for the division a few times I'd suspect for it to blossom into a hated rivalry. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

There's always a little criticism of Ferentz by a few idiots after a loss to someone like Minnesota, but not enough from the people who matter to ever cost him his job. Most of us are happy to have him and realize where we'd be without him at the helm.

I agree that this could turn into a great rivalry so long as both teams are competitive and battling for the division title, but there wasn't much riding on this one for either team. I'm not sure what kind of team Iowa will have next season, as they're graduating a lot of players, including the entire defensive front four and several of their offensive linemen, but I'd guess they'll be looking at another 7-8 win season. Hopefully they'll be good enough to give you're Huskers all they want when they visit Iowa City next Thanksgiving.
