No Honey Badger? And where's Matt Kalil? The guy is supposedly going to be the #2 pick in the NFL draft, he's kicked ass all season, and he's not on this team?

if I were to look around long enough, I could probably find one where they were ranked #1....so, it really depends on what the criteria for rating the quality of a university....but their have been 4 Fields medalists come from Cal (as many as any other university) which is a pretty amazing achievement for a public university....

They're on the Elite All-America team. It's not fair to compare any of the other players in the country to the Bear/Hawkeye players, or expect them to measure up to that level of play.

LSU's punter (his name is Brad Wing) was a lofty #26 in the country in punting.

For myself, the absence of Matt Kalil and Honey Badger renders this list laughable. Could two players have stood out any more at their respective positions?

The Walter Camp AA team seems to be in agreement with you. Funny how both of these teams are supposedly voted on by the coaches but the results are different. I guess Camp includes ADs.

Wing did indeed have the lowest return average.

And even with that, still didn't have the best net punt average, although he was third.

Oregon's Jackson Rice being one of the guys ahead of him.

That's only because the few times LSU ever punted, it was from their opponent's thirty-nine yard line.

Most Heisman winners are quarterbacks, and if they're leading a 4-8 football team, they probably aren't very good. The best punter could play for anybody. The 2011 Ray Guy Award was given to the punter at Louisiana Tech.

Agreed. Here's an example:

Baylor.

Fucking BAYLOR.

Maybe you should get those SEC/LSU balls out of your mouth, back up, and take another run at explaining why Wing gets the nod over statistically superior punters.

It's not like punting is subjective, and is about the only position that isn't -- we can argue about who's better, Griffen or Luck, Richardson or Ball... different teams, different offenses, different opportunities...

Punters? They can be substantiated with a few buttons on the calculator...

And Wing, while an excellent punter, clearly wasn't the best (although he was damn close).

But one of the things having SEC balls in your mouth seems to obscure the view of, is the fact you have SEC balls in your mouth.

Actually, we were talking about JSC, for the umpteenth time, having the SEC/LSU balls so firmly planted in his throat that he wasn't able to see what an idiot he was...

And along comes his Relief Sucker, hell-bent on proving he can get the SEC Balls halfway through his intestines, and diverts the argument away from why a statistically inferior punter didn't get the AA team just because he played for LSU, to why he did get the AA award.

But yeah, bro -- this is all because we're a bunch of SEC-Haters, and has nothing to do with the LSU Homer contingent having no fucking clue what they're talking about (AGAIN).

All that to say you were wrong about Wing to begin with? Ok then. And I don't remember Baylor having a losing record. Looks like you were wrong about that too. Uhm, actually I was dead-on right. Since he wasn't the best punter, he wasn't good enough to be an All-American, and guess what?

He wasn't an All-American. Not sure which part of that you're struggling with.

If you search enough AA lists, you'll find a flawed one that named the THIRD BEST punter as their AA... obviously an unbiased vote.

Any of the list with any integrity gave the nod to Shawn Powell... since he was the best punter.

Wing wasn't even second-best. Since anyone who voted the third-best punter to recieve the highest honor either didn't follow football, or had some other motivation (catching on yet?), their votes should be dismissed by anyone who has a shred of integrity.
