As the Seahawk's coach. He would whine and cry... couldn't keep his opinions to himself... and the team imploded around him.

After the Seahawks gig... he coached high school football part time.

How well would Mora stand the pressure of a "large" market ???

Mora to fUCLA would continue the death spiral...

My fingers are crossed...

doormat of the Pac-12. Shit didn't you know Cal is playing in their 150th straight national championship game this year. We had more interceptions, yards passing, yards rushing, turnovers, penalties etc...than all of our opponents. Fuck the #'s on the scoreboard, we took care of business where it counts. That's why we're #1 again.

I'll bet. You need as many bottomfeeders as possible to keep your Bears from being the PAC12's doormat.

Yeah, I know they're in a different division. I'm talkin' PAC12 as a whole.
Cal is in their own division. Nobody else can meet the standards.

So, It's Jim Mora Jr.

http://www.latimes.com/

Now what would make this even funnier... would be if they pulled an ASU and pulled his offer just as he was moving his family into the new home around Westwood.

The only possible silver lining with this hire is that when, err, IF he fails, he takes that worthless AD with him.

UCLA - striving for mediocrity.

Props to WSU for seizing the moment...

Jim Mora, Jr? Really?

Embarrassing. Even through USC's probation, will UCLA put a dent in L.A.? Doesn't look like it.

I actually talked to Jim Mora the elder as he's a former Marine Captain and I'm a former Navy LT about some military stuff. Then he told me his son Jim Mora is not the Jr variety due to having different middle names, but the press uses it for simplicity.

Looks like the PAC 12 is going to get interesting.

socal, I would've listened to all of Chris Peterson's concerns regarding his desire to stay put at Boise. I would've hammered home the absurdity of Boise moving to the Big East. I would've empathized with his every word.

Then I would've handed him not only a blank check but also a blank blueprint entitled "UCLA's Football Facilities: training rooms, practice fields, film rooms, player locker rooms," instructing him to design exactly what he feels would be necessary to become the dominant force not just in L.A. but also in the Pac 12.

I would've played to his ego/vision until he had to admit that we were offering him a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that simply could not be passed up.

Had he still balked, I hire Sweatervest the very next day and start recruiting defense like a motherfucker.

Obviously, Petersen would've been a good get. Only our incompetent buffoon should've done some research and known who or what to get his man to Westwood. Not completely sold on any Boise St hire...their track record is not so great....and his predecessors looked just fine also....

Tressel is nitro right now for anyone that comes into contact with him. Sumlin not accepting was a big relief....good luck aTm....Bellotti too old, so Guerror's job is riding on this hire. He's off to a good start - he ain't Toledorrelheisel. It's pretty much boils down to the next few weeks with his assts....Then we'll see.

All I know is that as a USC fan I'm not the least bit worried about UCLA with Jim Mora, Jr as the coach. Had they pulled their heads out and landed either Petersen or Sweatervest then I would've sat back and watched with a bit of trepidation.

In UCLA's case, fuck Sweatervest's final-season issues at OSU. UCLA simply doesn't have that luxury. They need a quality coach who can close the gap in L.A., and they need it right damn now.

Sweatervest, or Jim Mora, Jr? If you're a bluechip recruit, which guy sitting on your couch is more impressive? If you're a UCLA alum being asked to write a check to help fund new football facilities, same deal.

Jim Mora, Jr is an answer to a question no one will ever ask. It's hoping to tread water when you're already drowning.

Absolutely untrue.

Years from now, some budding young football fan will ask "Gramps, who was that one tard who went on the 'playoffs?' rant and guided UCLA to a 1-11 record?"

Okay, fine, merely for comedic value had UCLA signed Jim Mora and not his milquetoast son I'd be cool with it. No one ever really gave a shit about Freddie Prinze, Jr.

Fuck... you did put the "Jr" on the end... I just read "Jim Mora" and the wheels started turning...

But it's OK, I'm used to comedic failure.

No, it won't work. Sorry seer but this hire stinks just like an M2 post it's just hard to figure out which one is worse and makes less sense.

How confident do you think duckfan was when Bellotti retired? Handing the keys to an unproven OC.

And how confident was SCumfan when Chete Carroll was first hired with HIS background?

I'm not thrilled, but he gets my support until it is not warranted....Saying he will succeed or fail is merely a guess at this point.
