Curfew

What do you think is a fair weekend curfew for a 10th grader?

We are having a big dispute over this now. My daughter is 15. She will not get her drivers license until next spring when she is 16 but she now has some friends who are 16 and driving. She is going out with them on weekends sometimes. I originally said that 11:30 was her curfew on Friday and Saturday night. She was very unhappy about it and said I was ruining her life blah blah. She said that they go to the late movies that start at 9:30 or 10:00. Then when the movie is over it is already past 11:30 and they just want to go get some snacks and talk. I told her that it is easy. Just go to the early show at 7:30 or 8:00. She got very upset and said that is when the "losers" go. And I am trying to ruin her life and so on.

Her mom is trying to stay neutral on this. I told her I would extend it to 12:00 and she threw a fit. She demanded that 1:00 is at least fair and that her friends are all allowed to be out until 2:00. I can't believe that. She is going to want to go out again tomorrow night and I know we are going to have this fight again. What do you think?

Happy Holidays!

A post about an underage girl out and about, and who is the first to reply?

Never too early for her to come to terms with reality. Tell her to suck it up.

You could point out that most professional athletes have an 11:00 pm curfew while on the road and an 11:30 pm curfew at home before games.

I'll be sure to have her home by 12, Dan. If that's what you think is fair, I can respect that. She might be a little woozy, but she'll be fine by morning. Say Hi to the missus for me and reassure her that I haven't forgotten her needs either. I'll give her a call next week and set something up.

Here's an idea: why not trust her until she gives you a reason not to? Whatever crazy bullshit you think she's going to get into between midnight and 1 a.m., she can probably get into by 11:30 or midnight anyway.

Besides, teen daughters deserve to have tons of crazy sex too. Why should Mrs. Vogel be the only one to enjoy getting DP'd in a frathouse gameroom?

I trust my daughter. Safety. Respect for authority. Discipline. Good life habits. I'm interested in having her learn all of these things. A reasonable curfew helps teach these things.

She is a child and the later a child is out the more likely some incident will happen. That is the fact. An incident might not be her doing but I can't trust the people she is hanging around with 100%. Also with your logic why don't I just let her stay out all night if she wants to? Since I trust her. Parents have to establish some group of standards.

I can suggest that kind of thing to her. But I think I already know her reaction. She thinks she's sort of half adult by now and will just think that I am offering her some kid pajama party thing.

She was tired last night and didn't go out. Too much school work this week so she was beat and she just wanted to sleep. I was glad because we didn't have to have our disagreement again. But I think it will come tonight.

Have a nice weekend!

But she's not asking to stay out all night. She's asking to stay out til 1 a.m. even though "all" her friends get to stay out til 2 a.m. You're probably right that not all her friends have a 2 a.m. curfew, but you could at least do your due diligence and check with a few of her friends' parents to see what kind of curfews they have.

Yes, "incidents" can happen between midnight and 1 a.m., but they can also happen at 7 p.m. or noon. That, too, is a fact. So with your logic, why not just lock her up in the house til she turns 18?

Maybe a compromise could be to have her call/text you at midnight to let you know where she is and where she'll be for the next hour. Or tie it into her grades somehow. 3.5 GPA or better = 1 a.m. curfew. 3.0-3.5 = midnight. Below 3.0 = stay at home and study.

Well now it happened. I've been up all night. I will make this short. After I started this topic I extended my daughter's curfew until 1:00. She went to the moview with friends last night. I got a text message from her at 12:30 saying her friend lost her purse and they had to find it so she might be a little late. I tried to call her then but she didn't pick up her phone. I wasn't happy. Then 1:00 came and went and she wasn't home. Then 2:00 came and went. Still not home. I tried to call many times and she didn't answer. I was boiling. Then about 2:30 I got a call from the police station. There was an accident. Teenage girls were drinking. My daughter was there. I had to go to the station to get her.

Here are the facts so far. My daughter did not drink. The driver of the car her friend was not drinking. Just supposedly one other girl in the car had some wine coolers and was drinking in the car. My daughter's friend got hit by another car in a minor accident. The police came. Then when they came they found out that there was open liquor in the car and underage girls. So everyone had to go to the station and parents were called. We got home around 5:00. She went to bed and I said we would talk tomorrow. I was too upset to sleep so here I am. Maybe I'll try to sleep some now but the sun is up. I can't wait to hear what my daughter is going to have to say.

Curfew back to 11:30. I win at the end of this and thankfully nobody was hurt.

I have a miserable life and wish I were dead!

Mgo, to sum it all up, Vogel's daughter broke curfew and got impregnated by a drunken death metal band last night.

This never should have happened, Dan. The only thing she would have had to drink with me would have been lightly drugged soda pop and perhaps some semen.

And I would have gotten her home on time.

A bored admin/m0d is running this boring, "scroller" Vogel shit troll. I've actually read one post from it 2 years ago and it's obvious. I wish the owner would let it die.

It's not funny, not interesting, not believable, etc. Just let it die already. It fucking sucks.

How would I know? I don't have access to the admin panel where you can see who everyone that trolls is. If I had to guess, it would be MGBl0w. He is equally unfunny, unreadable (except for the cool PET's) and uninspired.

The Vogel shit troll is worse than the Tardowned, LTard 2, m2, and Pedo real posters combined. Now that is saying something.

If you have only read one post then why is it that every time I see your message you are saying something about me? It looks like you are very interested in what I say. Trol troll troll that's how warped you are from the strange things you see here all the time. A person comes in and talks about normal things and you freak out about it. That's funny. Everyone has there own thing so it's fine with me but you came and posted a picture of yourself posing in women's underwear for other men to look at. I don't think you are a judge of anyone ever. My daughters month grounding punishment is almost over but your being a fool punishment seems like it will never end.
