So, okay, what if LSU outplays Bama on offense
and defense this time, only to end up losing a low-scoring slugfest in OT on a FG due to some stupid mishap by the special teams?
Who's the better team?

After the first meeting I was, and still am, convinced that 'Bama has the better team and should have/would have won the game if they could kick field goals. I think next week will be a different type of game and Alabama will prevail. The better team doesn't always win the game because, if they did, the Packers would be undefeated right now.

Lame. That's like saying a team should have won a game if they scored more points. Having a top notch field goal kicker is part of having a top notch team. One reason they missed so many is because they were so long. The reason they were so long is LSU's defense kept them in check.
Here's my take: These two teams are so evenly matched that if they played 10 times, they could split them 5-5. Simply really. But to say Bama is better after they already lost to LSU is insane.

Bama had the most electric home field environment possibly evah in that game, and still lost. No way in fuck they were the better team.

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm not "insane" but I do believe that 'Bama is the better team and will have a chance to prove it next Monday night. Gee, I know it's "insane", but I also think the Packers are a better team than the Chiefs.

So LSU was voted number 1 because "most folks" think they're actually number 2? Ok then.
And despite the fact that LSU went to Alabama and beat them, you still consider them the better team. Why does that not surprise me?

LSU is undefeated. Bama has one loss. LSU beat Bama head-to-head in their house. LSU also has the better SOS. Add all that up and, yep, you've gotta objectively say LSU is better.
