Played two of them this weekend:
Far Cry: Its probably been mentioned a few times on here. Great game with very nice graphics and a good story line. We mainly focused on the multi-player side of the game which was fun. The game is especially good at long range scenery and shooting.
Swat 4: The fourth installment of the game is fairly nice. They improved the graphics and the interface to the game. It is definately easier to give commands to your team then in older versions. Again, we focused on the multi-player side and had a lot of fun.

Waiting for the new AOE III to come out here in the next year or so personally.
Have heard rumors of another expansion for Rise of Nations to compliment the Throne and Patriots expansion thery put out last year. I hope they do so as I would like to see some melee fighting in the Gunpowder and Enlightnement age. The ability, or to better state lack there of, being able to conduct a bayoney charge is an aspect I would greatly enjoy. Its my understanding that AOE III will have these functions but I would prefer a version closer related to the style of play RoN provides.

If you're a RTS fan, check out Act Of War. It plays a lot like Command & Conquer but it's a little more realistic in that you get money from oil you take to a refinery (the plot revolves around a war resulting from a new energy crisis), and you medivac injured soldiers to your field hospital. All in all it's a fun game if you're into the genre.

I liked the C&C' vetren system for units and wish more games would import it into their games. Never got into C&C because of the lack of any realism.
I have heard about Act of War but haven't been overly interested in it. Like I said I am holding out for AOC III or another RoN expansion.
RTS games have become so hit and miss. Warcraft III was
shit good for about 15 minutes of play time. Too corny, too few units and the Hero and pop system
SUCKED.

Anybody down with Combat Missions (turn-based WWII strategy)?

Act Of War has a promotion system like C&C. Other details I like are the ability to take prisoners, being able to put snipers on rooftops, mortar teams, and sending special forces into a building to flush out whoever's holding it.
