Doomsday Preppers

Anybody catch this show ? The basic idea is pretty good, but they always get these complete nut jobs to make the tv show. They spend every last dime on that shit, and still probably are not ready. The self proclaimed liberals on there last night refused to arm themselves, because they felt if they banded together as a community they could over come the need to have weapons.
These nuts on the show are no true preppers, but some wannabes...the prepper community is pretty unique and interesting..I am out on the fringes of the preppers, but I can guarantee you I can eat out of my house for at least 3 months, I have a creek for water, wood for heat and lots of ammo for when the city fucks coming looking to rob me of anything, not going to happen.
48 hours of any emergency and the grocery stores are empty, gas stations run dry, and if it is a natural disaster then road and bridge infrastructure is gone too. Fucking anarchy could just be around the corner on any given day.

Rack it. Chuck D will be a huge factor when and if there is no "rule of law", but people who have put some thought into this beforehand and taken at least some measures to be self-sufficient, will be the ones who make it.
A few of my friends and I have had campfire discussions about this possibility and most of us are armed pretty darn well, and a few of us to the teeth. Lots of ex-military and survivalist, outdoor types who hunt and fish. I think we will be fine for quite some time if this shit ever goes down.
We've went so far as to discuss how we would all reside in a compound and shoot any trespassers or roving bands of thugs and then hang their bodies on poles a few hundred yards from our perimeter. There would be signs next to them (in English and Spanish) declaring that any uninvited "guests" would find themselves dead and on pole.
Fun conversations!

That's fun? To be perfectly honest it sounds like you are not fit for society. What if some gang with more gunpower than your group decided to hang you up oustide their camp? Did you ever think about it that way?
I'm glad I don't know many of my neighbors well because I don't know if I'd be comfortable knowing what kind of people live around me and my family. This whole thing is far fetched anyway. But it gets all the Rambo types very excited. To each his own.

The people who are not prepared will outnumber the ones who are. But they will lack the skills and fortitude to overcome the skills of the preppers. I grew up on the land, hunting and fishing and providing for ourselves. I live outside town and we have agreed that our family would retreat to our property with their preps, set up defensive lines and defend our area. We have the ability and fields of fire to defend out to 700 yards or more. There would be at least 15 of us, with 10 adults very well armed. Any trespasser's would be shot. In line with prepper code, you do not rob or take other peoples shit. You do not let anybody take your shit. Hanging of bodies is reserved for people who resort to cannibalism.
There will be groups who will seek refuge, protection with preppers. You politely refuse, give them a couple of days of food and water and send them on their way. For the rest of the people who are unprepared for even a minor disruption..take heed.

So do you guys wear like survival bracelets, Swiss army knives, Leatherman tools and stuff?
Just in case you're caught a few miles from your compound when the apocalypse comes, you don't have any heavy weaponry or entrenching tools, and you have to make your way back through hostile territory?

We have these things called bug out bags. In every vehicle we have bags that contain enough food and supplies for 3 days. Personally armed with a .380 and a .357 most times, and if I go more than 2 hours away, a .223 semi auto carbine, plus extra ammo. Never let my gas tanks get under 1/2 full. Carry 2 knives on me at most times, with 3 more in the bag, and a Leatherman too. Chances are when TEWAWKI ( the end of the world as we know it) happens, there will be plenty of warning leading up to it.
Money and debit cards won't mean shit in those days so having other materials to barter is fairly important. I am not one who is going to flee my home for another area. We will stand off there until the crisis abates or changes. I have that advantage in a rural location with a creek, deer and elk and water fowl for food.

Hopefully when the shit goes down, you are one of the first to be eliminated..before you procreate and dilute the gene pool even more..
I have 90 days of food IF, IF I did nothing to add to that food supply during that time. But where I live dinner is a .223 shot away from the table. Or even less if my broiler chickens are still alive. Going to stored foods is only when the fresh is not available. Idiot.
And creek water is naturally filtered, and then you use a purification process..tell me you knew that. But I can understand your simple ignorance of knowledge of where the basic needs of life come from. Take comfort you are not alone..there are more stupid unprepared people like you than there are prepared.

Deep down inside? Try right there on the surface, to a point that they gather together for bukkake parties in open celebration of the coming turkey shoot.

My discretion. People in need and those with nefarious intent will present themselves differently and will be dealt with the way they need to be.
I do not hope for disaster or insurrection. I merely want to be prepared for what ever could possibly happen. I am far from being a total prepper, but not helpless by any means.

You have a much better chance of dying from a car wreck than you do from some kind of apocalypse. Do you take measures beyond buckling up? Perhaps you don't drive at all? Where does one draw the line with being "prepared?" Seems there's about a thousand things to concern yourself with well before "Doomsday."
The gig is up, Rambo. You know, they have video games for you to play out this sort of fantasy.

Your right..but I am comfortable with my level of preps. I am not as concerned with insurrection or " apocalypse" as I am a natural disaster such as an earthquake. A massive earthquake, not unheard of up here in the ring of fire, could render the infrastructure in ruins and no amount of FEMA logistics could prevent that from becoming insurrection when the food in the stores runs out, you water service and electric grind is out..that is when shit starts getting bad..so I will have a minimum level of prep's in case that earthquake happens and insurrection occurs.

If the locals get buttfucked in the mouf by an earthquake there's a decent chance they will elect to temporarily move vs declaring war on your food and property. I know you live in Oregon, derron, but these aren't archaic times. Insurance tends to cover these things.

Insurance ? Say a 7.5 or better earthquake hits the area. Probably going to take down most bridges and power lines. We have more than a few rivers here and the need to cross them to go just about anywhere is evident. Grocery stores run out of food in 48 to 72 hours. No potable water service. No gasoline. Just dime up your insurance agent and say get on this now homes...I need my shit fixed right away.
I am sure the federal gubmint will be able to mobilize enough and fast enough shit to care for the masses.
And this can be repaired in just a few days.
And I am sure there will be enough police and fire protection for all, and able to move freely around the infrastructure to do their job.

An S.F. joke about earthquake preparedness runs along the lines of "Oh, I'm down to the basics--a generator and a gun. Just kidding, I don't have a generator."

Is it naturally filtered or not? But that is not my problem with your water source. My problem is that it can easily be contaminated by chemicals that you will not be able to filter out and I doubt you meant distilization when you were talking about water purification and secondly what is to keep one of your upstream neighbor's from diverting or damming up the 'creek' thereby depriving you of life giving H2O? Real preppers have cisterns, springs and/or wells (wells being the worst of those choices.)
No Duhhron in Doomsday Life (if there ever is one) just as in Real Life I will be doing fine and you will be struggling because you are stupid and I am not.
