Oregon and Kelly admit they cheated for 4 years

It will be great that they finally win a rose Bowl after 90+ years and now may have to forfeit it.
Even the radio shows up there are admitting that Oregon has been cheating and Phil Knight is behind it

Old news.
And "failure to minotor" doesn't result in vacating wins.
We'll get docked a few schollies and have the number of coaches allowed to contact recruits reduced.
The scouting service rule violated wan't on the books until 2010. Rumor has it the NCAA isn't sweating the scouting service thing too hard -- they're pissed about the extra coach contacting recruits.

.- In the years 2009, 2010 and 2011, Oregon used an impermissible athletic department employee to recruit. It was not clear Friday who that was
Might not have been a coach. Might have been a super hot secretary.

I think I've seen it mentioned at a coach, although the published report has all the names redacted.
As far as the recruiting services -- if they ding O, they might as well call off the 2012 season. Whoooooole buncha schools used the same one.
LSU and UCLA (and plenty of others) have Lyles-delivered guys on the roster (and Oregon is down to none, I believe).

If so, we need to buy some better D-linemen (although we've got some monsters coming, so maybe he did).

Of course, the excuse for the extra recruiter is claimed to be a misunserstanding over who was on vacation, or some such shit.

Failure to monitor is what Oregon is calling it, not what the NCAA is calling it, let's wait and see what the NCAA has to say on it.
When you take this and add that Oregon has staff renting cars for players not old enough to rent them for themselves (not to mention licensed to drive the cars) as well as multiple players trading game used to equipment to a local marijuana grower to sell on ebay to go along with Kellys attempt to cover up why he paid 25,000 dollars to a recruiting service for "influence" and you have the building blocks for LOIC.
Of Course I don't expect Oregon to receive anything as there is a representative of Oregon on the NCAA's COI right now and Haden will do nothing because he is a worthless little Domer

You mean they didn't have one of these?Dinsdale wrote:"failure to minotor"

Okay, you lost me. If Oregon violated NCAA rules, is it Haden's responsibility to investigate and hand down punishment?SoCalTrjn wrote:Haden will do nothing because he is a worthless little Domer

No, it's Hadens job to put the NCAA to task for allowing schools that have been more involved in breaking rules to gain a competitive advantage than USC and are getting much less of a penalty than USC received. Lack of institutional control means you were negligent in the performance of your oversight duties. People could argue that coaches should have paid more attention to Bush and his family's finances, but is that what coaches are expected to do, or paid to do? Probably not. However, when the coaching staff is affirmatively engaging in recruitment activities, such as, going after potential recruiting prospects, their acts are acts of commission, that is purposeful, and intentional acts to secure a recruits LOI. This goes beyond failing to notice events that are not within the immediate realm of your coaching duties, which are highly demanding of your time and energy, and which if you fail to closely scrutinize may lead to your firing. At worst, USC coaches may have been negligent in the Bush case, they innocently did not suspect any infractions so paid the matter no mind, but somehow should have, whereas, in Oregon's case they had their hands all over the instruments of infraction, so at the very least, it stands to reason that they had a callous disregard for the NCAA's rules and probably intended to circumvent them by whatever means necessary, so they should be penalized accordingly, their sanctions should substantially exceed those that were levied against USC.Terry in Crapchester wrote:You mean they didn't have one of these?Dinsdale wrote:"failure to minotor"

Oregon is guilty of buying influence in order to gain recruits and therefore gain a competitive advantage. On top of that they used more than the legal amount of coaches to recruit players. Those are black and white infractions of the rules that were ordered by the schools head coach. That on top of the other things that they have been guilty of as well as the fact that they are not first time offenders and it had been less than 5 years since their last run in with the NCAA (JJ Arrington matter) makes this a rogue program that knows the NCAA rules and feels that they do not apply to them.
Of course with Oregon Law Professor James O'fallon on the NCAA COI, Im sure he will see to it that nothing happens to the Ducks.

CBS Sports has long been the SEC supporters and ball cuppers but at least they are honest with the Oregon situation, unlike espn who is afraid to talk about it for the fear of losing the nike support.

And if you ask me, the USC sanctions should be the starting point for Oregon. The minimum. While it's true that an actual player (and family members) received benefits in the USC case -- and received them at a value well beyond $25,000 -- there's a distinction here. It's a distinction Oregon fans will ignore because it's convenient, but it's a distinction that should appall the NCAA:
At USC, the checks were written by outsiders: agents, runners, marketing reps.
At Oregon, the check was written by the Oregon football team.
See that distinction? It's grotesque. This wasn't some mysterious off-campus figure exerting influence. This was Chip Kelly making sure $25,000 went to the guy in Houston who says he helped steer recruits to Oregon. And Lyles had a hands-on role, too: He says he advised eventual Oregon All-American tailback LaMichael James to transfer to Arkansas for his final semester of high school to avoid Texas' standardized test required for graduation. Then he showed Seastrunk how to use his grandmother to sign his scholarship papers, because Seastrunk's mother wasn't sold on Oregon.
See how bad this looks?
