Could've easily just used this as an excuse to pick up Chic Cosmetology and ITT Technical Institute, so I'm glad AD Mark Hollis still sacked up and scheduled a real opponent. And a better one at that.

Bullshit. "Flexibility in its scheduling" my ass. Those games were slated for September kicks, when the XII traditionally plays its four non-cons.
With home-and-homes already scheduled with Maryland (scary) and East Carolina (shivers) I could see where those moonshiners might wanna duck Sparty in favor of a Centenary or the Ragin' Rectums of Southwest Left-Testicle State to flesh out their schedule.
And you're right, Mgo: Sparty's home-and-home with the Daffys will be can't miss TV. Still, an MSU-WVU tilt would've brought nothing but legitimacy to the Mountaineers case for a BCS berth should they be fortunate enough to string together enough wins in the XII in '14 and '15. Pussys.

Isn't there some sort of B1G vs PAC series about that time?
Yep. I've been wanting to see something like this for a long time. Glad it's finally going to happen. I think they'll match OSU with USC and Michigan with Oregon...after that it's tough to say.

Nebraska-Colorado, perhaps?
I know there are Buffs fans out there thinking, "make this happen..."

To be totally fair to the couch-burners, I think they'll try to continue the Backyard Brawl, which used to be a conference game but now will have to be OOC. So I think they might have dumped Sparty to make room on the schedule for that.
Makes sense that they'd continue both that and the Maryland series, given that the nearest conference rival in the XII (Iowa State) is 870 road miles away per mapquest. They'll want to continue to have some close-to-campus games, and those two are the ones that make the most sense.
Also worth noting that if the schedule originally was written under the assumption that WVU would be playing in the Big East this year, they would've scheduled five OOC games, whereas they'll only get three in the Big XII.
Still, they should have dumped East Carolina rather than Sparty.

If this was done to keep the rivalry game I don't have a problem with it. If they don't keep that rivalry after this move then pile on.

Split the H&H last time... Sparty won't be nearly so lucky this time around.
The PAC/B1G thing is cool. I don't think Michigan is looking forward to another series with the Ducks, though.

Maybe they'll match Wisky with Oregon. That was good fun the last time around.

I hope that FSU dumps their return game to Morgantown in 2013. Would love to pick up more games with them after we play this season.

Yes, it was. I didn't make that game, but those who did said Wiskyfan was apleasure to have around -- unfortunately, that game was before school started, so outside of the game itself, Eugene was a ghost town.
Had a bowl in the middle of that H&H, too. I think Wisky took 2 of the 3, IIRC. Won't happen again.

I was at the game in Madison. I remember we were tailgating beforehand when some Oregon fans came by. They were good people so we hooked them up with brats and beer. Then we thoroughly kicked their team’s ass 27-23.
