OKC Trip PET

So the Hockey team I work for made it into the playoffs and after opening at home we went to OKC starting with game three. Huge ass legal convention was in town along with Thunder games and an Arts Fest downtown. Really crowded and with the street construction moving around was difficult. Also due to the convention we had staff and players in 5 different hotels, however, all were within walking distance of the arena.
Sun rising over Love Field in Dallas as we changed planes and an old school Southwest paint scheme pulls up along side.
On a non game day some of us went to the OKC Federal Bldg Memorial.
Statue of Jesus across street from Memorial, inscription reads "and Jesus wept"
Marker of South Entrance
Mural of photos
Entry Gate to Memorial of what was 15th Street.
One of hundreds of personal memories.
Just inside the West Gate looking down what was 15th street. The truck was about 2/3rds of the way to the far gate.
Markers for those who died in the blast.
Looking North towards the survivor tree that was burned but not killed.
Northeast Corner of bldg foundation.
Looking across the memorial from the survivor tree.
Message from a recovery team
Later that night some of us went to take in the RedHawks game. Nice park, but what was common around OKC many of the seats were tarped off.
We had seats in row D of Section 108 but that was behind the screen so we moved to the first row down the 3rd base line.
After we won game 3 of the series some of the staff went to Tap Works about the only bar open and I saw this in the pisser. Guess it was a Cowboy fan making fun of a Sooner's English.
The brown bldg is a prison at the OKC airport where ConAir flights can transfer prisoners. Jetways are included but can't be seen in this photo.
View of Denver on approach. Had to connect there and Austin to get home with only 8 hours notice.
This ad always makes me smile. What a better ad than to pax on another airline that are pissed that they just dropped $60 to check their bags.
I had to call my counsel after seeing this in the Austin Airport.
Nice city as usual, but I suggest coming on a non convention week. Great sports facilities, but way to many seats covered up. But with so few people attending their baseball and hockey games I see why they cover them.

I've never been to Spain or Oklahoma. Cool PET. I nearly forgot that OKC was the site of that bombing. Photos of the memorials bring it all back.

How could you forget? It's only known as the Oklahoma City Bombing. Jesus Christ.
You deserve a Face Palm Jesus for that.

No, the most boring post since the last one you issued.
How one of your clients has yet to kill you remains a mystery. You must not work much.

was in OKC in 2005 for a tourney at the ASA stadium/complex that my daughters summer team had qualified for, of course visited the memorial and paid my respects.
Good town, OKC... I hear they have an NBA team. I'm pretty jealous, as are certain posters from the U&L.

'sup with that?
Has to be the smallest market by far. And not really known as a roundball hotbed. Where did they move there from? Wasn't it Vancouver or some other place bball never should have been anyhoo?

Oklahoma City is a shithole... I had to spend 4 days a year in for the last 20 years while traveling between Kansas City and Houston.
The only uglier town/city... is Dallas (the grand shithole of them all).
And yes, my mom grew up there and went to Hillcrest High School... where the average family income is well into the 6 figures.

And it's still a fucking shithole

Yup, smallest NBA market -- yet for some reason, they still get all the calls... ponderous.
Where did they move there from? Wasn't it Vancouver or some other place bball never should have been anyhoo?
Uhhh... Seattle, the #12 media market, and the city where about half the freaking players in the NBA come from.
As far as "jealous," Wags... in a word, no. "Pissed at those piece of shit, contemptable liars," sure. They lied, dishonored agreements, fucked a city over, and broke up the I-5 Rivalry.
But "jealous"... pretty sure there's a banner hanging in a certain U&L arena, while that OKC place isn't so equipped. Let me know when the Plunder join The Club.
Besides, any team name that isn't a plural is automatically gay.
And as far as the PET -- Lefty got as much as he could out of a place that seems completely devoid of any scenery to speak of.

"Trees" have a tendency to get in the way of all the twisters that whistle through those parts periodically.

Those things in Lefty's pics look similar to "trees," only smaller.

BTW -- world's largest pine tree is Oregon.
World's largest fir tree... Oregon.
World's largest walnut tree... Oregon (very close to where I am at the moment).
I'm sure there's others, but that's the ones that come to mind.

I think I mentioned I'm eventually going to help my buddy cut down what may be the world's second largest walnut tree... it's an English Walnut, though. The owner of the tree has a bitchin home made horizontal smoker (inner tank from a water heater), too. We might have to brawl over wood... wait, there's dozens of cords, so probably not.
Butternut (the other type of walnut) is awesome cooking wood. And apple, cherry, and plum trees are a dime a dozen around here. I've yet to try hazelnuts for cooking yet... I'll bet it's good. But since I'm quite flush with cherry these days, I've been using a bunch.

Pine trees?
If by largest you meant five largest and if by OR you meant CA then you did pretty good.

Gee, Epic Fail fails again.
You should probably avoid any topic discussing the height of things, eh? It's just not in your genes.

How is he moving the posts?
he said tallest pine, then he posted a site backing it.
there was no mention of particular types of pine tree, which i assume is what you are talking about.

My reading comp is better than my pronoun pluralizing and landscaping, you sawed off mouth piece.
Dins said "we got the biggest pine"
he then posted a link supporting this.
all you've done is ankle bite like the cyber chihuahua you are.
you have neither shown evidence of his goal post shifting, or of the tallest pines being in cali. i don't suppose you are implying that sequoias are pine, are you? they are both evergreens and real tall, but, to the best of my limited knowledge of botany, they are not considered pines.
so, how's about you suprise everyone and actually come back with a fukking take. i suspect you won't and have thoroughly wrapped my ankles for your inevitable reply.

Statue of Jesus across street from Memorial, inscription reads "and Jesus wept"

They borrowed from John 11:35 (Jesus wept) and they misused it.
Not surprising, but just noting it.
Jesus wept, as recorded in John 11:35, because people, despite
knowing better, did not trust in Him.

Because of course Jesus wouldn't cry over dead babies.

B, It's a subtle and sneaky misrepresentation which serves to deviate one's mind from what is of critical importance.
It serves to minimalize what is really important and why Jesus did in fact weep.
"Oh boo hoo... this event was so tragic that Jesus would probably have wept over it."
The Words of the Book of John (from which -Jesus wept- was taken) were inspired by God, and John 20:31 tells us why it was written for us.
John 20:31
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
Trust in Christ is the salvation of one's soul.
Jesus wept because people, despite knowing better, did not trust Him.
