The Draft... College Football
It's been interesting...
Cal's had 3 players taken so far, including a punter... before Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Texas, and even lowly Auburn have yet to have ANYONE drafted.
That's flat-out embarrassing ...
It was nice to see the Niners take an Oregon running back... even if he didn't have Cal linebacker speed.
Look for Cal to have 2 or 3 more guys drafted by the end of the day.
Hell... Cal has more players in the NFL than Alabama... and that includes this years draft picks for Alabama and not including Cal's this year.
That would be simply rubbing it in... and that's not what Cal is all about.

Re: The Draft... College Football
Any GM who drafts a punter in the first three rounds is a stupid fool, much like yourself.
Auburn only had three starting seniors this year.
The fact that feCal had all that NFL talent and still couldn't win proves it's a shit program.

I noticed the ammount of Cal players in the NFL last year. It's actually impressive.
It's a great number, but it makes another number that much more migraine-inducing.

Illinois had a lot of picks taken this year. Was there a lot of winning in Champaign last season?
Mizzou had only only a third rounder taken yesterday. Two top ten picks last year and a had the most first rounders past handful of years of any team other than Bama, but nothing close to it this year. Ebb and flow with the teams recruiting and performance.

Nevada put up 52 on Kal in 2010 and beat them by 21. Early prognostications suggest that this year's Pack could be just as prolific offensively as the squad that went 13-1. Regardless, I'm already thinking the Wolves and the points when the Bares reopen Moneypit-Memorial on Sept. 1.

Nailed it... as usual.
Cal comes out of the draft with 6 players taken and only 3 schools in the country with more...
Cal had more players taken than any school in the PAC 12... with furd' and oregon coming in next with 4 players each and U$C a distant 3rd with 3 players.
Even LSU had less players taken... which is undoubtedly do to their high academic standards.
And simply the most embarrassing showing of the year is Auburn with just 1... 4th round player selected.
They at least kept pace with some of the finer schools such as Missouri, Ashland, Maine, Midwestern St., Samford, Albion, etc.
Bravo.

Is there a minor league baseball forum, where claiming 'bode for the volume of players passing through and moving to the next level instead of actual fucking championships and standings may be appreciated?

That is what CFB is. Minor league football. Paid for by "boosters" for the benefit of the NFL. They're so minor league they don't even settle their championship with a playoff.R-Jack wrote:Is there a minor league baseball forum, where claiming 'bode for the volume of players passing through and moving to the next level instead of actual fucking championships and standings may be appreciated?

Yeah Crason, it's kind of funny how teams with few seniors put few teams in the draft.
Crazy shit -- teams with lots of seniors (and even juniors) tend to do pretty well in January, and pretty well in April, too.

I don't know why you're jacking off over this. Several programs had at least 6 players drafted...except they're actually good at football.
Alabama - 8
Georgia - 7
Oklahoma - 7
Boise State - 6
Cal - 6
Iowa - 6
Miami - 6
Michigan State - 6
South Carolina - 6
Wisconsin - 6

Which ones ???
Certainly not any of the teams you mentioned that Cal has played.
Cal vs. Iowa... 37- 3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_Alamo_Bowl
Cal vs. Miami... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... 15044R.DTL
Cal vs. Michigan State ... twice
a. 46 - 22 in East Lansing
b.
Pssst... Cal is 6-0 vs. the Big 10 over the last 10 years.

USC's upper-classes were decimated by NCAA induced Free Agency. Malik Jackson is at least one of the several players who transferred from USC after the sanctions hit that was drafted this weekend, I don't know if there were more, I didn't watch.
Re: The Draft... College Football
USC had 2 Senior starters in 2011, Christian Tupou and Rhett Ellison. USC had 3 players drafted, Juniors Matt Kalil and Nick Perry in round 1 and Ellison in round 4. Tupou signd a free agent deal with the Chargers. So having just 3 Sr starters isn't an excuse.Carson wrote:What part ofMstool wrote:Auburn with just 1... 4th round player selected.did you not comprehend, you queerbait Cal condom chopper?Auburn only had three starting seniors this year

Only 8 teams have had at least one player taken in the last 46 years.
Michigan, USC, Florida, Nebraska, Texas, Michigan State, Arizona State and Tennessee.
ASU? Who knew?

Looks like that will be changing in the very near future. That said, you're right in that the NFL has been able to use college football as a free minor-league system.BSmack wrote:They're so minor league they don't even settle their championship with a playoff.
As for Cal's punter, we still have to see if he'll be worth the while, but fwiw, Ray Guy was a first-round draft choice, and I'd say he was worth it. Thanks for making me defend 2oodles. :brad:

And two ND players drafted in the first round (Smith was a bit of a surprise in that regard). First time that's happened since 1994, when three ND players went in the first round.

A four team playoff that likely won't even include the 4 highest ranked teams because if they DID choose the 4 highest ranked teams, they will have 2 SEC teams most years.Terry in Crapchester wrote:Looks like that will be changing in the very near future.
