"There is no longer any question that Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's sworn testimony before Congress has been contradicted by videotaped evidence of the controversial governor discussing with his top campaign donor a "divide and conquer" political scheme to undermine organized labor and make Wisconsin "a completely red state."
Now, however, there is new evidence to suggest that Walker's testimony to Congress about when he began preparing his anti-labor legislation -- which sparked mass demonstrations and a recall movement that will culminate with a June 5 vote on whether to recall the governor -- was not truthful.
The growing controversy over the governor's testimony led three veteran members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee -- who had previously contacted committee chairman Darrell Issa with their concerns -- to write Walker directly on Friday."
"Dear Governor Walker:
On May 21, 2012, we wrote to Rep. Darrell Issa, the Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, requesting that he send a letter asking you to explain your testimony before our Committee on April 14, 2011, particularly in light of a new videotape taken of you three months before the hearing and an article published by The Nation entitled, 'Did Scott Walker Lie Under Oath to Congress?' Letter from Ranking Member Elijah E. Cummings and Committee Members Gerry Connolly and Christopher Murphy to Chairman Darrell E. Issa (May 21, 2012) (online at
http://democrats.oversight.house.gov/in ... ent&task=v...).
"On May 22, you were asked about our letter by your local Fox affiliate, but rather than addressing the substance of our request, you accused us of acting politically because we did not send a letter directly to you. Walker Responds to Allegations He Lied Under Oath, Fox 6 News (May 22, 2012) (online at
http://www.fox6now.com/2012/05/22/walke ... ied-under-...) (stating 'I think the fact that they've sent it to you before I've even seen it suggests that it's a political issue').
"To address your concerns, it may be helpful to explain why we wrote to Chairman Issa instead of to you. Pursuant to our Committee's protocols, the Chairman typically writes letters on behalf of the entire Committee to seek clarification of previous testimony, to forward questions for the record from Committee Members, and for other purposes relating to witness testimony at Committee hearings. Chairman Issa has written several letters to witnesses this Congress when he believed they were not being truthful or when new information came to light suggesting that their testimony was not accurate.
"Since you appear willing to entertain our inquiries directly, we ask that you submit to the Committee written answers to the following three simple questions no later than June 1, 2012:
1. Do you dispute that you met with Diane Hendricks, one of your top donors, on January 18, 2011?
Do you dispute that, in response to a question from Ms. Hendricks about whether Wisconsin could become "a completely red state," you responded "Oh, yeah," and that your "first step" as Governor would be to "deal with collective bargaining for all public employee unions" in order to "divide and conquer"?
In light of your answers to these questions, do you now wish to withdraw your sworn testimony before the Committee in which you asserted that you never "had a conversation with respect to your actions in Wisconsin and using them to punish members of the opposition party and their donor base"?
"In the interview with your local Fox affiliate, you stated that 'the facts are the facts.' We agree, and in this instance, the facts were captured on videotape.
"It is critical for Congress to obtain accurate information from witnesses who testify before the Committee in order to help inform our policy decisions. Your videotaped conversation with Ms. Hendricks not only raises serious concerns about the accuracy of your testimony before the Committee, but it undermines the entire rationale put forward for your unprecedented campaign against public sector workers.
"We look forward to receiving your responses to our questions."

Not very likely. The Democrats have mis-managed the process from start to finish. Walker will win 51% to 48%. Or as mvscal would say, "handily".

Not surprised to see the board's corrupted politician apologists (as long as they're Republican) already wringing their hands and preparing a defense for another piece of shit that doesn't deserve to be in any party.
How do you defend a pos like this? Get him the fuck out of politics....forever. Any politician caught lying under oath should be banished.

So we're supposed to interrogate politicians for being politicians? Of course he wanted to undermine the opposition and attack its donor base. Why is that even a subject of inquiry?
Now, however, there is new evidence to suggest that Walker's testimony to Congress about when he began preparing his anti-labor legislation
Who gives a fuck when he began preparing his pro-taxpayer legislation?

MILWAUKEE - Gov. Scott Walker has a 7-point lead over Democratic rival Tom Barrett among likely voters a week before the recall election, according to a Marquette University Law School poll released Wednesday.
The poll found 52 percent said they would vote for Walker, while 45 percent said they would back Barrett, Milwaukee's mayor.
The poll's margin of error is 4 points.
Democrats refuted the Marquette University Law School numbers, saying their polling shows the race in a dead heat.
The poll was taken May 23-26, with most interviews completed before last Friday's first gubernatorial debate.
The 7-point advantage for Walker was statistically unchanged from a poll done two weeks ago.
"The campaign itself doesn't seem to be fundamentally altering voters' differences very much, but that's why this turnout game is so important," Marquette Law School Poll Director Charles Franklin said.
The two candidates, who vied to be governor of Wisconsin in 2010, are competing again in the recall election set for June 5.
The poll also found Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch had 46 percent and Democratic challenger Mahlon Mitchell had 41 percent, with 11 percent not expressing a preference.
Walker continues campaigning at businesses across Wisconsin, making his case that the state's economy is headed in the right direction under his leadership.
The Marquette University Law School poll shows that 50 percent of respondents believe Walker will do a better job with the economy than his Democratic opponent, Barrett. Only 43 percent thought Barrett would do a better job.
Barrett's campaign released a statement disputing the findings of the Marquette University Law School poll. The campaign said the MU poll is an outlier when compared to other recent polls, most of which show the governor's race either tied or separated by just a couple of points.
The Barrett campaign also pointed out a poll released Wednesday shows the race in a dead heat at 49-49 percent.
"The MU poll predicts the electorate to resemble 2010, which is reflected by its undersampling of younger voters and an oversampling of some of the reddest counties in the state. Yet given the high enthusiasm on both sides, not just on one, as was the case in 2010, this expectation is not credible.
"Quite simply, the results reported today by MU do not sufficiently record surging Democratic enthusiasm. This race will be close, and Tom Barrett will win on June 5 because he will put Wisconsin first, truly focus on jobs, and restore trust and integrity to the governor's office," said Phil Walzak, communications director for Barrett's campaign.
Hoping to surge their energy with less than a week to go, Democratic supporters welcomed Barrett to Madison's Majestic Theater on Wednesday.
While Barrett took the stage and talked about the need for more transparency from the governor's office, his were looking into and questioning how the latest Marquette University poll collected its stats.
"Polls call people who voted before," said Barrett supporter David Boetcher. "They're not talking to the people who suddenly have seen what's happened in the past year and are a lot more energized to actually vote than they've ever been before."
Meanwhile, Walker spent some of his time in Janesville, visiting ag company Mid-State Equipment.
"I think it's wonderful (Walker) came down here, and he was here to talk about agriculture in the state of Wisconsin, and that's what we're all about here. We're an ag business, and it's good he's promoting it," Mary Goad said.
Walker's supporters are feeling confident about the governor's lead in the Marquette University poll.
Franklin, who oversaw the poll, said a single-digit lead for Walker is pretty consistent across most independent polls.

GUYS, ok, SINCE this is a Scott Walker/Wisconsin thread, I'd like to sequitor into Rep. Paul Ryan.
RIGHT NOW, ive got C-Span on. The role of government in the economy is the topic of discussion.
Jeb Bush is sitting in, and Rep Henry Waxman just spoke for 20 minutes or so, He is a democrat, and in my humble opinion, HE LOOKS LIKE A JACKASS LIBERAL.
Paul Ryan spoke next. AND LET ME JUST SAY? He completely undressed Mr Waxman, and left him for dead. TOTALLY making Waxman look stupid. Waxman basically called republicans dangerous and totally responsible for ALL the economic troubles we are in.
Paul Ryan, republican from Wisconsin, slowly and with great wisdom, took Waxman apart piece by piece. You could see Waxman squirming and twitching in his seat, it was hilarious.
Paul Ryan is one of the smartest young congressmen to come down the pike in a long long time.
He basically with facts, took down waxman's sick liberal claims one by one.
GUYS, if you get a chance, please put on C-Span now.
Ryan talks about finding common ground. He talks about the small businessman. Ryan talks about how corruption happens NOT just on Wall Street, BUT, in big government as well.
It seems that democrat liberals ONLY seem to think that corruption is just a "private sector" thing.
Ryan really hits the nail on the head here, and knocks it outta the park so to speak.
