Now that the playoff model has supposedly been decided and will be announced next week, use this thread to speculate on how it will look. Here are my three projected models:
The Bible Belt Model
Seed 1 - highest rated SEC team
Seed 2 - 2nd highest rated SEC team
Seed 3 - 3rd highest rated SEC team
Seed 4 - 4th highest rated SEC team, unless there are one or more undefeated teams from other conferences, then it's still the 4th highest rated SEC team
The Notre Dame Model
Seed 1 - highest rated team unless Notre Dame is 12-0
Seed 2 - second highest rated team unless Notre Dame is 11-1
Seed 3 - third highest rated team unless Notre Dame is 10-2
Seed 4 - Notre Dame, unless already seeded above
The Revisionist History Model
Seed 1 - Cal
Seed 2 - Cal's recruits
Seed 3 - Cal's practice squad
Seed 4 - Iowa

So if Ohio State wins the B1G and Michigan is
clearly the next best team in the country, you're fine with the Wolverines not being in the playoff?
They would have already played each other. No one wants to see a rematch in the National Championship Game.

I will accept this with 3 more stipulations
1. in order to qualify a team must play 6 road games (neutral site does not count)
2. in order to qualify a team must play only Div 1A opponents.
3. in order to qualify a team must play at least 2 non conference games vs other BCS level opponents and at least 1 of those on the road greater than 1000 miles from their campus.

I wouldn't be.
I want to see the 4 best teams. I don't GARA if they're all MAC schools.
They may have played twice by then... Win the conference if yo want to win it all.

You mean like 2006? After the osu/michigan game that year people were saying they were clearly the 2 best teams and should play each other for the national title. As it turned out, neither of them were the best team let alone the 2 best teams. Same as this year, with the poor OOC scheduling and lack of travel by certain programs/conferences, we will never have a true national champion.

4 best teams based on what criteria? How do you determine who a better team is if they do not play each other and there is a huge disparity in the scheduling?
How do you determine who the better team is when one team plays 8 home games and another plays 7 road games?

Nobody knows who is "clearly" the second best team. That's why you decide it on the field.
Were the NY Giants clearly the best team heading into the playoffs last season?

So now instead of complaining that the #2 seed doesn't deserve to be there, people can complain about the #4 seed not deserving to be there.
Yay.

At least in the NFL you have everyone playing a similar schedule, 8 home and 8 road games and none of the teams are fattening up on Canadian or Arena league teams because they feel their conference is so tough that they shouldn't have to play any one who could even beat their practice squad when not playing their conference opponents.

What they failed to mention was that the committee will be comprised of Sam, 'Spray, Jsc and Verne Lundquist, with Gary Danielson as first alternate in case one of the others gets too shitfaced to make the meeting.
