Actually I think it may be the other way around.

Why should he apologize? They have a shit fan base that won't buy tickets. He should just move the team 120 miles to the north. You know, to help fight engineer against global warming.

Right. Because, as we all know, LA fans are much more patient and dedicated in their support for underachieving football teams.

Maybe they'd be more appreciated in El Centro.

El Centro Chargers....it has a certain ring to it
El Centro Picadors....they could capitalize on their proximity to the border
El Centro Saltons....capitalizing on the only interesting thing there is to see proximate to El Centro

Mexico City Chargers sounds good.
The Neutered Football League is going to need to get those London and Mexico City teams in place before too long.

Maybe the El Centro Pickers (or Stoop Laborers) to more closely identify with the local population.

Why don't they just invite Broncos fans too? Then your Chargers lid will have been flushed by fans of all 3 AFC West teams.

The Chargers insisting on a new stadium or threatening to move hasn't increased the number of fans, nor has the retention of Norv Turner. San Diego has had four good coaches in its history, Gillman, Coryell, Ross, & Schottenhiemer. The rest of the time they've been terrible. The team's under achievement with Turner has mostly been a waste of good talent and very disappointing. Worst of all, his act is very predictable.
