This thread has been done before, but it's been a number of years since I've seen it.
So here it is - circa 2012.

You have a dream week of chat.

You are allowed to sit down for drinks for one hour each day of the week with any person on earth.
A different category of interest each day.

Monday: Finance
Tuesday: Politics
Wednesday: Science and Technology
Thursday: Sports
Friday: Entertainment
Saturday: Sex
Sunday: Faith

Who do you chat with each day?

I'm guessing you'd at least want them to be alive at the time.

I went with "alive" - if we're doing dead then i'll need a re-do.

I think Krugman is a liar and an apologist for finance capitalists, so yeah...it would make for a good chat.

I think Krugman is a pussy and a coward who doesn't know how to put a finger in the chest of those who disagree with him.

I think Paul Krugman knows a lot more about economics than any of us. Including tantrum boy.

I'm interested to know what you (buzzer, mvscal) would be seeking to learn or enjoy from being with the person you chose.
Why of all people in the entertainment field, are Govan and Page compelling to you?

Carla Sarkozy, Erin Andrews, Tina Fey.

KC Scott's got a boner. :)

Govan, because he's not only an off-the-charts genius but also one of the most down-to-earth and easy-to-talk-to freaks of nature I've ever encountered. He's infinitely gracious, humble and accommodating while also possessing an uncanny ability to translate the seemingly unfathomable into something simpler. His enormous intellect and love for the English language would also make him a delight to chat with over dinner or whatever. I'd be curious to hear his take on practically any subject under the sun, music-related or otherwise.

Page? I'd want to talk with him during one of those rare lucid moments he had during the '70s, but then I'd also want to talk with him post-Zeppelin and even now. Because he's such a seemingly isolated player, I'd want to get his take on a million different players and music-related subjects.

Seriously, I've always wondered just how aware he is of the world around him. What did he think when he first heard Hendrix, McLaughlin, Van Halen, SRV, Yngwie, Vai...Govan? As the yardstick continued to move, what were his thoughts? Why didn't he ever incorporate more gain and compression to make soloing easier, the way nearly everyone else in rock does? Did he really even give a shit about his famous sloppiness, especially later in his career? At the time, was he fighting it, or was he still happy with what he was playing?

The way bradhusker talks about having "studied" Elvis, well, Page has been a huge part of my life for pushing forty years now, yet he still remains mostly a mystery to me.

Again, though, the key would be in catching him sober (no longer a problem, but it sure was in the '70s and '80s), and not just sober but willing to open up. He's notorious for being quite reticent in conversation despite his undeniable brilliance. He doesn't say much, but when he does decide to speak up he's usually got something more than a little worthwhile to say.

Also, my god, the stories he could tell....
