Figured I'd start a thread where we can all laugh at our douchebag universities trying to become Euro soccer teams. Here's Michigan's go at irrelevance for the Bama game:
The gloves are decorated with the lyrics to "The Victors" because tradition these days is explicit and mass-marketed, not implicitly understood. Next year's alternate jerseys will probably be red and black.

"BUT BUT BUT THE KIDS LOVE THIS SHIT!"
Do you think Penn State will change its uniform design just so people don't think "You know, it was that pedo enabler Paterno who insisted on this blah uniform design for 50 years." Prolly a good time to change things up there.

think they need to keep the white pants since it's easy to tell with them on if any of the players were sexually assaulted in the shower.

It's really kind of a weird deal. The main reason for doing this is money—money from Nike, money from extra jersey sales. The programs that need the money the most aren't recognizable enough for Nike to bother doing this to with. Meanwhile, the programs with more money than God line up to debase themselves.

This fancy uni stuff needs to stop...the (supposed) one-off of the night game against ND was passable but they breakout the road version against State but Sparty was also wearing a gaudy Nike kit.
I'm past the age of 30 so I'm pretty much done buying jerseys. My new rule is I can't buy a jersey of a player that I'm older than...basically only throwbacks are eligible. I used to bad at wanting the cool new jersey that came out but I'm glad I'm past that stage because you'd go broke trying to keep up with these chameleons. I'm all about generic logo gear.

As of last year there are no restrictions on the color of the gloves.

I'm declaring myself exempt from this discussion.
But it's ghey as fuck when you guys copycat for a few bucks.
There Can Be Only One.
Nike bought one school, then rented out the rest as Section 8.

One the Ghey Uniform topic ATM's HC admitted that a khakhi uniform was on the table for awhile. This was in response to booster complaints about the new uniforms.

Northwestern's new uniforms are pretty cool:
Nebraska's one-offs for the Wisconsin game have Down's syndrome:

not sure about NWestern's being cool. what's next, argyle?
people forget but Nebraska already wore the adidas TRON crap one year in 2002 or something. one of the Eric Crouch years.
one thing OU and NU still share is when they start adding black to the crimson/cream or scarlet to the fan gear or periphery sport unis....it's some kind of 80's revisit nightmare. and it still looked like crap in the 80's.

obviously a matter of opinion if it looks good. otherwise, i didn't realize nwestern was responsible for the thin-thick-thin stripe pattern prevalent on the sleeves of many other football uniforms. (it's even called the northwestern stripe.) seems a good way to highlight their contribution to football tradition. not like they've contributed much else other than an free win every year.

They even screwed up the spelling. Instead of 'WYO' it should read 'WHY.'

like i said before you, not sure that's great looking. an opinion. extending the stripe across the chest is not tradition.
but thanks for the Big Ten passie agressie style response. it's marketing, not a "celebration".

your hilarious argyle comment was meant to point out how random the stripe across the chest was. i pointed out it wasn't so random. wouldn't call that passive aggressive since i have no issue calling you an incoherent douchebag. lay off the meds before posting next time. also, thanks for the marketing insight. had you not said anything i would have bought both home and away nwestern jerseys.

see what i like about you as a poster is you think if you post an overstatement about buying home and away....that you are some kind of posting winner. maybe you are this weeks smackoff winner??
i'd rather be an incoherent douchebag....though, minus the incoherence, i think you divined pretty absolute what i meant. so, it's hard to make that part stick. and douchebag is such an average insult.

oh, so you had no idea that the stripe had to do with their history and wasn't just some rando marketing gimmick pulled out of thin air? well, glad i could help.
i deal with a lot of ESL folk so have gotten fairly good at divining intent. if laying off the sauce = this week's smackoff winner, then so be it.
