Genesis 12:1-3
[1] Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
[2] And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
[3] And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

God calls Abraham out of a background which was completely swallowed up by idol worship ---> destruction.

And he brought him to a state where he is not only blessed, but where he IS a blessing.

When a person takes the step to receive the salvation which God has freely given (Christ), he becomes exactly like Abraham.

He is taken out of the grip of idolatry which is his destruction, and he becomes a blessing.

Galatians 3:29 - 4:7
[29] And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

[1] Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
[2] But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
[3] Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
[4] But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
[5] To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
[6] And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
[7] Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Verse 1-3: we were previously in bondage to satan.
Verse 4-7: As promised, Christ came, broke the law of sin and death, made us sons of God who are heirs to all which God created.

It is a complete restoration of the original blessing which God gave to Adam.

If you are blessed enough to be hearing God's Word, you are being called just like Abraham was.

jesus wasn't around when abraham was wandering around.....as such, abraham couldn't have believed in jesus christ as his savior because no such person existed.....so what happened to abraham? thrown into the fiery pits of gods everlasting love no doubt....

Oh God said to Abraham, “Kill me a son”
Abe says, “Man, you must be puttin’ me on”
God say, “No.” Abe say, “What?”
God say, “You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin’ you better run”
Well Abe says, “Where do you want this killin’ done?”
God says, “Out on Highway 61”

Abraham's faith saved him.

Old Testament folks were saved when they returned to God - Isaiah 55:7, Ezekiel 18:26-28 - and others.

Btw, Abraham knew Christ was coming.

Jesus, speaking to the Pharisees said this.

John 8:56-58
[56] Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
[57] Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
[58] Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

knowing he was coming and believing him to the be the messiah is two different things.....I thought the only way to salvation was through a belief in jesus christ?

abraham and the rest of the old testament crowd didn't believe in jesus because he wasn't around....so what your telling me is that they received special exemption? or they received special exemption via osmosis because god knew that they would believe in him?????!!!!!

any religion with loopholes is seriously fucked up

Felix, I just told you that Abraham's faith saved him.

When Old Testament folks had faith in God - and returned to Him, they were saved.

Romans 4:10
faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness (salvation)

he was just a youngster.....hell Noah was building aircraft carrier sized boats when he was a spry 650 years old....adam lived to a ripe old age of 930, methuselah outlived them all to 969....obviously their longevity can be attributed to all of the highly nutritional food they were eating and the unprecedented sanitary conditions they possessed.....plus the vapor canopy that surrounded the earth and filtered out all the bad radiation right?

after the flood, the average life span dropped to a mere 317 years....

remarkable in that over the last few hundred years, we celebrate anybody that makes it to 100 years old.....
