Sam, for years you've been saying open racism in the South is mostly a thing of the past, and how it's no worse now than it is anywhere else in the country.
You sure about that? Looks like the same ol', same 'ol in your
neck of the woods...
Mississippi Church Refuses to Marry Black Couple
http://www.wtma.com/rssItem.asp?feedid= ... d=29884737
The main reason for the church's pastor being unwilling to do so?
There has never been a black wedding at the First Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, Miss., since its founding in 1883. According to Pastor Stan Weatherford, some church members objected so strongly to breaking that precedent, they threatened to oust him from his pastorship.

States' rights, and all.

Who gives a hearty fuck?
Abolish marriage. No more controversy.

That's really not a bad idea.
Then again, R-Jack is only saying that because he wants to be technically single again.

I'm actually more passionate about killing the concept of marriage than giving a damn if fags want to swap rings.
A binding religious contract? It's fucking stupid. Most of the married men here are athiests anyway
Gaining equality in an outdated concept isn't progress.

Were you already thinking this way even before you got married, or is this something that you've only come to feel since tying the knot?

So what's the problem here? Are we no longer free to associate with those we choose?

"My 9-year-old was going to the church with us. How would you say to your 9-year-old daughter, 'We cannot get married here because, guess what sweetie, we're black,'" Charles Wilson told ABC's affiliate WAPT-TV.
Can't believe he waited that long to break the news, best she hears it at home than on the street

No one ever said that mandatory attendence was required of those bigoted whites who disapproved of the ceremony. If they didn't want to associate with blacks, great, they could've just stayed home.
The odd thing is that more than likely at least some of the wedding party are already members of that church, which is probably why they chose it for the ceremony in the first place. If that is indeed the case, okay, so what that church is saying is they'll allow blacks to attend their services, but it's not kosher for them to get married there?

I can't blame the congregation for not wanting to conduct a ceremony for some braying she-ape named Te'Andrea. I would think the zoo or perhaps the county lock up would provide a more reassuring environment for her on her big day rather than a church that she doesn't even belong to.

What an unhappy thing that there are really people like you in the world. You have never even met the human being and you talk like that about them? I fear that people I am around every day think like this and I don't know it. Sick people. My barber. My mechanic. My mailman. Who knows. Then again maybe the only warped people have somehow all ended up on this message board. It seems like that. Have you never had a friend who had darker skin than you? That's all it is.

If a church won't marry you, then walk run away.

Crystal Springs ain't no damn state!
Goober, you don't think mv has a right to feel whatever he feels in regard to race? Agreeing he has that right doesn't imply agreement with his thoughts.
I think a lot of his schtick is just trolling. He's probably married to a black woman.

Count on it, Dan. If fact, I'm reasonably confident that at least half of the people you meet every day are overcome with an odd compulsion to murder you with hatchet blows to your forehead and neck. Most of them probably don't even know why. One day, though....

You tried to appear smart here, it didn't work.
