1. About three years ago for row 4 seats to see Van Morrison at the Orpheum in LA on my birfday. He played about an hour and a half set of mixed bag and then came out and played the entire Astral Weeks album. One of two or three best shows I've ever seen and well worth it.
2. Six weeks ago, on our 25th anniversary, to go see the San Francisco Opera perform the Magic Flute. It actually cost a lot more, considering plane tix, hotel, Napa Valley wine tour, etc. I didn't fall asleep, so that was good.

Hell yeah that'll work!
I grew up on Corpus Christi Bay and saw lots of folks modeling that song.

I'm sure if he played Happy Birthday and the Sesame Street theme it would still be a great show.

Kwitcherbellyakin. Pony up the $420 and get a front row spot. J.Geils Band is at the NY State Fair on 8/25. J. Geils himself is not going to be there, but Peter Wolf, Magic Dick et al should be able to put on a good show. I'll be in town and would love to go. Cost $10 to get in to the fair w/ $5 parking. Too bad it's not a "Senior Citizen" day or admission would be free.

Not only that, he's Canadian.

If Bonzo climbs out of the grave and plays with LZ, I'd pay that kind of coin. Otherwise, fukk no.
The mot I ever payed was 50 bucks to sit in the grass and watch the Eagles, about 17 years ago. Awesome show. Wouldn't mind seeing Neil, but, wouldn't pay more than 25 bucks to do it. There are a lot of other acts I'd rather see.

Speaking of Bonzo and Zep, my brother just informed me that Jason Bonham and his band are doing a Zep tribute show here on October 7th. I would have little interest in seeing him play other things, but a whole show of Zeppelin? Hell, Jason probably comes closer than anyone to sounding like Bonzo, plus I haven't been to a show in forever, so I should probably go. If nothing else, I'm sure it would be a fun night out.

That was kind of awful. Seriously, if you're going to copy a Whitesnake video, at least try to remember that it's the Tawny Kitaen hottie character, not the singer, who goes on top of the car. I mean, c'mon!
And that was a horrible imitation of Plant. Slapping a ton of reverb on a high-pitched voice does not the Human Lion make.

Caught Bonham here over the winter. Had a moment or two that was kind of like dude .... play and stop milking Pops rep for a buck, but otherwise a kick ass show. Will go again if they return.

I saw him several times many years ago in the 80s and they were all incredible shows. No need to pay that much to see a dotard. I guess it wasn't better to burn out than to fade away after all.
A strictly baby boomer bucket list tour only...

I saw Neil and Crazy Horse for the first time with my pops in the fall of 2003 for around $35 each at Van Andel Arena in GR. Half house, so only 5,000 people in attendance. Place was packed and Neil was great. Now his tickets are going for twice and he's playing out in BFE Fairfax, which almost doubles the expense for me to get out there.
God damn it, why can't he just play the Warner Theater? Now THAT would be $100 worth spending because tickets would be good.

Saw them open for ELP about 20 years ago, when that song was current. Not horrible. Actually, I left my bitchy GF there, and walked away after the show... so good memories there.

Saw them, I'm sure over 20 years ago, when Steve Vai was filling in for an injured Viv Campbell (the only reason I went).

Saw that same Whitesnake tour. Vai was already playing "For the Love of God" as his mid-show solo piece.
Unfortunately David Coverdale was one of those douches who thinks the best way to connect with a crowd is by dropping gratuitous f-bombs every two seconds during his frequent bouts of stage prattling.

Saw Neil with CSN at the Clark County Amphiltheater in Vancouver in 2006. Probably one of the best concerts I have ever been too. They were extremely tight in that tour. Neil managed to get the crowd pretty politically pissed off, since that was pretty much the height of, starting to wind down in Iraq..Graham Nash was in a wheel chair form some kind of accident. Props to him for playing and doing shows like that.
I would spend $50 to $ 85 a pop to see Neil and Crazy Horse...pretty much one more chance is all you get to see these old guys live. The Northwest got screwed on the concert tour this year...going to see Joe Walsh on Aug 25, and Doobies on Sept 22.
This is one of Neil's things with Pearl Jam..always worth a listen. Him and Eddie Vedder on stage singing at the same time is almost painful. But nails anyway.

I saw Neil 4 different times with 4 different outfits. First time was with The International Harvesters. That was nice. Then the Bluenotes. That was even better. Then as a solo acoustic act with a couple of guys from Crazy Horse dropping in for a few songs. That was freaking epic. And last, and most epic of all, I saw him with Crazy Horse back in 96.
I don't think the combined price of all 4 tickets was more than 110 dollars.

As long as we're in a Neil Young Reminiscence Mode...
Saw him once at a "Day on the Green" in the Oakland Coliseum in 1974. Actually it was CSNY. The whole band played an electric set and an acoustic set and then, if I remember right, they each played a solo set. The "opening" acts were Jesse Colin Young, Joe Walsh and Barnstorm, and The Band.
Pretty damn good show, and it pretty much took all day and half the night.
