You might not burn but you'd probably need help getting back up.

NASA needs to get their shit together, or be gone.

Spent billions to drive a rad SUV around Mars... and they don't have a freaking spaceship to do basic repairs on satellites.

I guess they spent too much money falsifying data to convince everyone the earth is heating up... keeps the grifter money coming in.

And they are going to depend on the Russkies to get the loads to the space station, when the Russkies just fucking wasted 2 rockets at about 150 million each. Failed to reach orbit.

What if a satellite that's vital to national security goes down?

Do we hire Russia or China to fix it?

But at least we might have a bitchin rock-crawler running around Mars taking pictures.

Who the fuck makes these decisions?

Uhhh....besides the Hubble Telescope, when did we ever fix a satellite in space?
(I won't wait too long for an answer to that question)

Hubble was a special project. Fixing satellites was never part of anybody's mission. Mostly, it's probably cheaper to replace them than to send somebody up to work on them.

Maybe in future it might be possible to do it remotely but that would take a completely new class of vehicles and robots.

Morpheus is a prototype for a cheap, environmentally friendly planetary lander.
:meds:

You get what you pay for I guess.

environmentally friendly planetary lander.
Considering it's Mars, a '79 LTD with a leaky head gasket and a broken muffler is the equivalent of the Sea Shepherd. Brilliant PR.

You know we're sitting on four million pounds of fuel, one nuclear weapon and a thing that has 270,000 moving parts built by the lowest bidder. Makes you feel good, doesn't it?
